I know I am missing something quite simple but I cannot for the life of me see how to link an image to a URL. I know I can go in and hand code it but would love to just do it within the Design view. Am I missing something mind-numbingly simple?

I don't think it's available in GWD at the moment.  But I expect someone from team will file it as a feature request for later on if not done already!  I agree it's something you'd want to see.   :-)

Hello,
Could you try to select Tag tool and select Image icon, then draw an image  tag on the stage. Then from Properties Panel on the right, you can set Image source (URL) under Image Properties.

Thanks,

Hi Micheal

There is a work around for this case.  You can have a taparea and put in on top of an image, and you can create an event to the taparea that link to the URL.  When you preview in browser, clicking on the image with taparea on top will lead you to the URL link you set.

And here is the steps for setting the taparea event in the event dialog box:

1.  Drag a taparea in the working stage
2.  Under the Event panel, click on the Add event button (which is the plus (+) sign)
3.  In the Event dialog:
  • Select taparea_1 => Touch/Click => Environment => Exit
  • In the Configuration section, you can set the Metrics ID: e.g 'myExit' and then enter the URL in the url section

This work around case is only work with Ad type.

Thanks,
Jason (GWD team)

Thank ya. That does solve my Ad type linking... any chance we will see it in Blank File HTML?

You can still work around this issue by doing the following

a) In the File New Dialog, choose "Google Ads"
b) In The "Environment" drop-down choose "Generic" .

This way, you get the benefits of components & pages. But you don't have to build an Ad specifically.

Very much waiting for it!
If we can quickly add an "hover" effect as well, that would be great.
Thank you

Hi there,

I create tapareas, but they don't show up in the Events as a possible source, can you tell me what to do?

I'm using Ad type and followed all your other steps.

Cheers
