Hello, I'm a developer trying out GWD. I have experience using Adobe Dreamweaver and their editing software and I created an html file that I was writing for a new WordPress theme I wanted to build when I ran into a snag with Google Web Designer. As usual, I planned to create and link an external CSS file which I also created with GWD and when I tried to link the to files together inside of GWD I received a prompt telling me that It couldn't open a link to that CSS file?

I also cleared the preloaded styling in the header of an html file and when I tried to reopen that file it said that it couldn't open the html file because the property is null? I have searched the help sections for more details but it doesn't explain enough about how to link the different file type documents to work together in Google Web Designer. I like the way Google designed GWD but can I link the files I create with GWD inside of GWD? Was Google Web Designer made only to create the document files but we have to link them and test them somewhere else?

Hi

It is important to place the CSS file in the gwd_preview_filename folder.  Lets say create a file called myhtml in GWD. When you preview your project in GWD, a folder called gwd_preview_myhtml will be created, and all necessary flies for the project is there.   So you'll have to save the external CSS file in this  folder to have it work.  I tested it and it worked fin for me. BTW:  the CSS panel in GWD is a good way to edit your CSS, it supports internal style sheet but NOT external CSS, meaning, if you want to change the external stylesheet you must do it in the CSS file and not in the CSS panel.  SO, I will recommend you to use an internal sthylesheet when working with GWD.
