Convert/Save the banner from General to Adwords

Hello guys. I have just finished a banner and i did it as General.
Now I want to use it at Google Adwords, and I need it in that format.

How can I convert my banner, which is already done, from General into Adwords format ?

Hi Nikola,

Please try the following steps to convert the generic format to AdWords/DoubleClick.

1) Open your GWD source HTML file (not the published index.html) with GWD code view or with a text editor.

2) Find the following tag under <body> tag:
<gwd-genericad id="gwd-ad">

Replace with
<gwd-doubleclick id="gwd-ad">

Also find its closeing tag
</gwd-genericad>

change to the following.
</gwd-doubleclick>

3) Save and close the document. Reopen with GWD and republish.

Hi

I have never used DFP before.

I just wanted to confirm; so AdWords and DoubleClick are the same? If I want to use some AdWords creatives for DoubleClick, do I need to make any changes? I have added a tap area / clickTag.

Hi,

While AdWords and DoubleClick are different platforms, our GWD publish process is more or less the same for both. This thread was for anyone who choose a different file type, i.e. Generic, but really needed to publish to DoubleClick or AdWords and we've provided instructions to allow this without having to re-create the ad.

Each platform has its own guidelines, I would check out the following Help Articles for assistance:

The AdWords and DoubleClick environments can currently be used on either service, you should not need to convert from one to the other. Please let us know if you run into any issues.
