Hey everybody!

I've been asked to do an HTML5 banner with GWD that will be uploaded on Google AdWords platform.

I followed this guide https://support.google.com/richmedia/answer/3182727?hl=en&ref_topic=3183006 in order to add a clickTag, but I'm facing this issue:
When the banner is uploaded as a clickTag banner in Google AdWords and my project manager tries to test it, the middle screen that shows you that it actually counts clicks, does not appear. It takes you directly to the destination url. Is that normal? Shouldn't a middle screen appear, just like in flash banners with clickTag, in order to track the click?

Hi Raphael,

I'm not sure about the middle screen you're describing or if it should function the same with non-flash ads, but I believe the best people to contact would be the AdWords team. If you have any questions regarding Google Web Designer itself, please let me know; but I have a feeling this is an AdWords direct question.

Hey Jaz and thanks for the prompt reply.

Maybe I wasn't clear enough. I have created an Html5 banner using GWD. The environment is Adwords. I want to add clickTag functionality to that banner so I can track the clicks from the Adwords platform. Although I have tried the above mentioned methods, none of them seems to provide tracking, similar to when I use a flash banner with clicktag.

Can you provide a step by step guide or something in order to achieve the tracking?

Hi Raphael,

Thanks very much for the clarification! On our end, we do not handle the tracking via AdWords, so if you have built the ad without issue in GWD (more info here on using Tap Area), then everything should be tracking properly once uploaded to AdWords. If it is not, then you definitely need to reach out to AdWords and inquire.

I noticed the link you provided mentioned DCM and on this page, there is a tutorial video (expand the "Use Gooble Web Designer to code clickTag for DCM creatives) which provides a walkthrough, perhaps that will help: https://support.google.com/dcm/answer/6055507#trafficking

thx

Jaz have you got any idea why I can't open the video tutorial? When I click on the link, I am asked to login but nothing happens afterwards. It asks me to login again and again without prompting an error.

Can you provide another way of viewing the video?

Hi Raphael,

Can you try this main link and then expand the "Campaign Trafficking Topics" area: https://support.google.com/dcm/answer/6055507
