Hello Google Web Designer Community,

As some of you may be aware Chrome recently announced that they will drop support for 32-bit Linux as well as Ubuntu Precise (12.04), and Debian 7 (wheezy) in early March.

Google Web Designer will also end support for 32-bit Linux as well as Ubuntu Precise (12.04), and Debian 7 (wheezy) in early May. Users on these operating systems will still be able to run their existing version of Google Web Designer but will no longer receive updates or bug fixes. We are committed to the Linux platform and will continue to support Ubuntu 14.04+, Debian 8+, openSUSE 13.1+, and Fedora Linux 22+.

Cheers,

Is there a solution for Linux Mint 17.1 64-bit users who experience the blank start screen issue? No proxy set. Many thanks!

There seem to be a lot of people trying to use GWD on supported Linux platforms (I am using Ubuntu 14.04) that have trouble with the blank startup screen. This is NOT a proxy issue since many people have stated that they are not using a proxy. Could it be a certificate issue? The URL from which the config file is fetched is https://www.gstatic.com/ninja/config/shell_config.xml

and that also seems to be available over a plain HTTP connection. I have tried many things to make sure that this isn't a cert error but am about to give up on GWD because not one seems to have an answer.

On OpenSuse 42.1 I am getting:
LOCATION=en_US google-webdesigner
which: no opera in (/home/tomas/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/bin/X11:/usr/games)

Why is Opera needed?

I'd also like an answer to your question about Mint, but more specifically, you're obviously running GWD on 64bit Mint. Will it continue to be supported?
I want to dual boot to be able to use Mint 64 bit quite soon.

Yes I can verify I have exactly the same problem with GWD on Ubuntu (15.10 - 64 bit) - IE it has a white screen at startup, but then nothing happens

We just released a new Google Web Designer version (1.6.0.0429, shell: 1.3.5) for 64 bit Linux. Please give it a try and let us know if the white screen issue on launch is resolved.

Thank you

I still get no errors on Linux Mint and a white screen, did the update include this OS?

The update is for 64 bit Linux.  Linux Mint is not official support but it worked for some people on this forum.

First Google kills Chrome 32bit and now they kill Web Designer 32bit on Linux.

Not everyone has/uses a 64bit machine. That's the really nice thing about Linux - it runs just fine one older hardware. It doesn't the latest and greatest to get the job done.

Thanks Google.

Oh I forgot to mention that they've made it extremely difficult to get Chroium for all available platforms - Mac, Linux and Windows both 32bit and 64 bit.

Just another in a growing line who are ignoring 32bit.

Google Web Designer only supports 64 bit OS on Linux, same as Chrome's system requirements.

Thanks,
