Creating a 300x600 banner this morning, same routine as usual, however for some reason all the local assets, only jpg's and png's, are not publishing along with the rest of the banner and don't show up in preview either.

I've tried re-saving the assets, restarting the banner from scratch, reinstalling GWD, nothing has fixed this and i'm pulling my hair out now trying to figure out what the problem is. My colleague at work has tried the same thing and it's not working for either of us.

Any ideas?

Hi Adam,

It sounds like a permission or network access issue. Can you tell us more about the steps how you create the banner file? Did you guys create the files on network drive (or other drives like USB flash drive)? And where are your asset files located? on your local machine? Did you choose Publish Locally? where is your publish folder location?

Would you also please send us your banner files (before publish) so that we can try it on our machine?

Thanks,
Emily (GWD Team)

Hi Emily, thanks for your reply.

So we usually create the banners from scratch, making them first in Photoshop and exporting layers into png/jpg, then adding them to assets within GWD.

In this individual case, the banner is actually just an adaptation of a previous banner we did, all that we were updating was a few of the image files in the assets, which should have just been a simple case of replacing the images in assets and updating the creative but for some reason, even a simple one image change causes the file to export with broken links for the new assets and when trying to save to a different folder i get a message saying "unable to save the file. please check file permissions".

I work off an external hard drive so we don't sit on the network, we connect via a server. the asset files are all located on my local machine along with the .html file (see packaged file) and i publish locally to the same folder. it's the same routine i have been using for the past few months since i started using GWD and have had no problems with it so far, so i'm bemused why it's suddenly stopped working.

Many thanks for your help,

Adam

Try changing the file names of the images, the images loaded after I renamed them. The symbols in the file names may be causing some conflict.

This worked!

Thanks so much for the tip, never had a problem with ampersands in file names before now, think i'll leave them out from now on.

Thank you Chris for pointing out the special character "&" in asset file names. In GWD, the Asset Library will accept only letters, number, dashes, spaces and underscores in the asset file names.

Thanks,
Emily (GWD Team)

Hey Emily,

Thank you for your helpful feedback. I did this and it helped me out a lot but I am still getting some broken links regardless of the title in my assets folder. Is there another solution as well to get around this?

P.S. Just a heads up, I may be asking you more questions throughout the day today ;).
