I cannot figure out how and where to place the workflow in the GWD canvas....

If I create anything in GWD centered visually..... I get it in preview mode aligned to the extreme left or extreme right. How do I figure out when I am working in the center of the workspace. I have tried for hours to figure out where the center of the page is but I can't get it. I have set my dimensions to a specific width and height such as 1100 x 1000 and placed my image in the center, but when I view it in preview mode or publish, my image is either off the screen completely (too far to top or aligned to the extreme left or right. My canvas in GWD looks correct!

Can anybody please tell me what I am doing wrong here.........

Working in HTML mode.

Thank you.

Hi,

I am not sure I understand your issue.  Can you post your file or a screenshot of what the content looks like in GWD's stage and what it looks like when previewed?

When working with a non-Ads HTML file, the body's width and height are 100%. The body will match the dimensions of the browser window.  Thus, the "center" of your HTML document will be different based on the browser's window size.  You can create an HTML element with a fixed width and height and place your content within that "container" element if you want a fixed size.

In fact, this is kind of what GWD does when you start an ads document -- GWD creates an advertisement page (just a DIV element with fixed sizes that match traditional advertisement dimensions) and the user's content is placed within that element.

When adding/moving elements in the GWD's stage, you can use the rulers on the top and left of the stage to figure out where your content is relative to the origin of the body.

For non-Ads HTML, the body's origin is at the top-left.  If you move some content to the left and top of the origin, GWD draws two lines (one at left = 0px and the other at top = 0px) that intersect at the body's origin.  I have included a screenshot of this.

Thanks,
Nivesh (GWD team)

Dear Nivesh,

It would be helpful to identify the 0 x and y axil within the GWD UI. Where is that in relationship to someone's screen.
The upper most, left most point? Or is it the center of a display screen? I would assume it is the former.

My issue is that I am creating a 920 width x 600 height stage that I would like to align center horizontally and align top.
Are you saying that GWD automatically centers it on someone's stage? Where would I align that on the UI at center x=0? y=0?

How do I ensure that this is centered on all screen resolutions?

Thanks for being out there.

Georgette

Hi Georgette,

It looks like you are using an ads-based HTML file. You can simply specify that your page (the specific state of an ad) should be centered using the Properties panel. Here is more information on working with pages and how to center a page:

Thanks,
