Today is a low energy day for me, so I was poking around the things
Liam posted and ended up reading the Australian MH. Here's what I
thought was worth stealing, worth mentioning or problematic:
I like their arbitration and DA processes. It covers pretty much
everything the US style approach does, but it seems a lot more
streamlined and less fussy (which might just be my take on things, or
the format, rather than actual truth; it is by far the shortest MH for
length). Flow charts, of course, are excellent.
I like that they do renewals every six months and you get a partial if
you joined in the second half. Everybody renewing at once might
actually be easier than rolling renewals, although it may also create
a politicized period of time where officers don't want to piss off the
membership especially before they pay up again. Kind of like right
before elections in US politics.
I like their Parents and Children section, though something more to be
inclusive towards breastfeeding mothers without encouraging
interruption of the game might be nice.
They are more "GTFO" towards officers that do nothing than the current
handbook. I like that.
Not sure that I like the idea of prestige award maximums.
I kind of like the "Guest" MC. It implies that people who aren't
quite members yet can claim up to 50 prestige to get MC 1 after they
join and that's nice. We're going to need some kind of
temp/guest/newbie member policy.
Not sure what I think about the weapons props thing. Maybe it's
awesome and I've just never been exposed to it.
Not sure I like the idea of prestige expiring if you can't get
somebody to do the bloody award right within a certain time period.
They failed to ever define their primary officer positions. They had
a page on the informal ones, but nothing detailed on the formal ones.
And it's never mentioned how officers are appointed and/or elected.
