Hey guys,

I realized, looking back, that I've been rather naughty in forgetting my part in the preliminary discussions. I'd like to fix that. :)

1. What do we want most?

A handbook that requires of the member/officer a minimum of not-fun work, and allows for a maximum of fun work/play, and creates an environment in which the maximum of fun can be had. Clear guidelines, simple rules that speak to common values, and an interest in only those things directly relevant to the operation of the club.

2. What do we want to avoid the most?

Wasting the time or effort of anyone in the club, or not rewarding it appropriately. Allowing rules to perpetuate or magnify personal drama. Getting involved in things that are not the club's business. Requiring more not-fun work from anyone than that which is absolutely necessary to keep the club functioning. Making rules for rules lawyers, and thus making them incomprehensible to anyone else.

3. Five words (to summarize your most important desires/fears re: this project)

Simple. Straightforward. Sensible. Fair. Fun.

... is my idea. :)

Sounds fair. We will need this foundation to refer back to when it comes to disciplinary process.

Kelley,

Yep. That's why I felt it important to start with this preliminary discussion, so that we knew where everyone stood from the get-go and could build from there.
