Yes, variety is probably a good approach. I have been working on a scifi story for a little while and it could easily have elements of fantasy or time travel.
It is called "Project Wonderland."
When a wormhole suddenly appears in orbit around Mars a team of military and scientists are sent to investigate. Their ship, the Looking Glass, passes easily through the puncture in space and time and they find themselves in orbit around a lush Earth like planet. The planet, code named Wonderland, consists of one massive continent. Among the towering trees and tangles of vines are ancient stone temples. Upon exploring one of the temples they come across a dense mist that seems almost intelligent. As it washes over them it deposits hundreds of nanobots into their bodies. The microscopic bots begin to adapt to their new hosts and eventually are able to manipulate their minds and bodies.
That the basic backstory. I'm thinking the crew is 'forced' to explore sexual fantasies for the purpose of examining the human psyche. In addition, they bots might cause the crew to procreate so that they can either just lean about reproduction or for something more direct like to create a new breed of alien.
Anyone have any thoughts on the idea?
