Regarding to the subject I think , It will be really interesting to
discussing about treeline , it s seems what is needed :)

I used Treeline for some time now , because I need to manage my
writing but
cannot be satisfied by the way of traditionnal software , I would
like to create my own structure , field , and so on for manage my
write . And some need no linear model , some need linear one but I
cannot manage a real database like mysql , or postrgesql .. Treeline
give me that freedom , I can create all structure i need , and find
back what I want quicky . It s a mix between database and outliner ,
but without their disadvantage ( an outliner is too less , and
database too much ) .. It s' an open source project and it s possible
to write plugin for extend it . You can also take HTML structure
direct from internet and include it , you can define all your field
and model .The output format is standart XML based , and you can
export your write to HTML , ODF , TXT , XML .. You can link inside
your different writing , like html web hyperlink , and also can link
to outside software to run it . I can manage whatever information I
what , in the way i want without any skill of programming :) , the
software it s coded in python language , so you can run it on Linux ,
Windows , Mac at least and totally open source . As it s new kind of
software , you just need to learn some approach for using it , but
its really quick ( I mean one day is ok to understand it and use
it )

http://treeline.bellz.org/ , the website is not very nice , but don't
underestimate it s flexibilty and power :) I use it around everyday
from around 2 year now ...

I discovered the software in the Linux Format Uk magazine ..
