I just read that there's an IGDA Tools Special Interest Group:
http://www.igda.org/tools/about.html.

From their description, it sounds like what we're doing would be right
up their alley.

Has anyone dealt with/know more about the Tools SIG? Any objections to
me contacting them and asking if they want to join forces in our quest
for a game writing tool?

Contact away! Perhaps at the very least they'd have some good
experience/advice to share with us.

I think its a great idea - it will give us direct contact with the
engineers who are going to have to do the dirty work when this tool is
implimented.

Ron, before stepping over into education I was a lead game designer on
a bunch of PC and console projects, which involved a good deal of tool
development oversight from the design side, so let me know if you need
another voice.

Thanks, Tom.

We definitely need another voice; your insight from both a tool
development perspective and as an educator will be very valuable.

Are you a member of the IGDA's Education SIG? If so, do you think they
would be interested in joining up with our project, as well?

Ron;

I am a member of the Edu SIG, and I think in the long run locking in
their interest makes sense, but in the short term I'm not sure it
makes sense. Once there is a solid plan - something concrete to
present to them about the tool - then I think getting some buy-in
makes sense. If this ends up being the right tool for the right job,
academia will make use of it... or at least the few schools that
actively teach game writing will.

Just let me know where you want me to direct my voice.
