My mom has a biopsy scheduled for Thursday this week in Houston for the growth in her ear. She won't get the results until March 4th. She is in good spirits, but I know she is nervous so I ask for prayers for her to be at peace. Thank you.

My mom said the biopsy went well. They had to do it twice because the first time they couldn't get in deep enough. She's pretty sore tonight so they're going to stay in Houston again and then come home tomorrow. She gets her results on March 4. Thank you for your prayers and concern.

The doctors found cancerous cells in her biopsy. So this is now the second salivary gland she will likely lose. There will be a committee to discuss her case. They are concerned, thinking these might be metastases from the original cancer of 2 yrs ago, especially because they also see some spots on her lungs. They are also concerned of a risk of a second stroke if they do surgery. So much is up in the air right now. Please cover her in prayer for comfort and peace and strength for us to support her in this.

Thank you all for your prayers and words of love over the past couple of months.  Mom went to Houston last week and found out that the spots in her lung are only pre-cancerous.  That still doesn't sound good, but it does mean that none of her cancer is at stage 4. They will continue to keep an eye on those spots.

Her salivary gland is still cancer, and they are currently deciding whether it will be surgery and radiation or radiation only.  The problem is my mom's recurrent stroke risk.  She would have to be off her anti-coagulant for 10 days in order to have the surgery, and that is a really long time.  For now, our prayer request is that the doctor's make the best decision, but we know God will take care of the situation.  Thanks for loving my mom with me :-)

My mom had to have a third biopsy, this time on her lower lung. I received this note from my sister this afternoon:

"There is cancer in her lungs :( he wants her to start chemo in Austin soon. It is stage 4 bc it moved from her neck to her lungs. We are staying here tonight so he can get another ct scan tomorrow. She will come back here (Houston) in 6 weeks for check on the progress. She will have chemo one day a week every three weeks."

Please pray for all of us. Those words "stage 4" are scary. I'm assuming the chemo will take care of the ear cancer too, since they are of the same type. No surgery is good, but I hate that she has to feel the effects of chemo :(
