Hi all,
VFS2 is now the default file system in runsc (b928a24). VFS2 improves performance for file system access and provides better compatibility with Linux. File system overhead is reduced by 2x and micro-benchmarks show 10x improvement over the previous implementation.
We have been using VFS2 at Google for many months and it will soon be enabled in more places like GKE Sandbox, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, and AppEngine.
