Hello everyone,

I’m working on creating a new mobile project, but I’m encountering an issue. Although all my data imports successfully, my panoramic images do not. Could someone explain why this might be happening? Additionally, I’m unsure about the correct format for panoramic images and would appreciate some guidance on which format to choose, as I don't know the structure of each.

Here’s a breakdown of my data:

  • Point cloud in UTM 34N (EPSG:32634), which imported successfully.

  • Trajectory in this format, which also imported successfully:
GPSTime, Longitude, Latitude, Height, Roll, Pitch, Heading
    Example: 58372.57106, 23.722436764, 37.960891600, 51.545, 3.953459, 2.079026, -37.050279

  • Camera file (which did not import) in this format:
Filename, Timestamp, X, Y, Z, Pan, Tilt, Roll
    Example: F:\LIDAR360MLS_TESTS\MMS_test\Img\ladybug_Panoramic_0000.jpg, 58372.57106, 739171.655, 4204972.606, 49.802, -38.300279, 2.379026, -4.053459
I’m using the Leica Pegasus file (.csv format).

Here’s the folder structure:

  • Project folder: F:\LIDAR360MLS_TESTS\MMS_test
  • Trajectory folder: F:\LIDAR360MLS_TESTS\MMS_test\trajectory
  • Panoramic images folder (contains the camera file as well): F:\LIDAR360MLS_TESTS\MMS_test\Img

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Hello Echrisanidis,

Thank you for the detailed information. I noticed that you mentioned both the point cloud and trajectory were successfully imported, which indicates that you have already processed the data using LiDAR360MLS. Are you trying to import the data into the LiDAR360 software for further processing?

If so, this is normal. LiDAR360 software does not support the import of panoramic images. Panoramic images can typically only be imported and displayed in LiDAR360MLS or the MLS built-in BP software. This is because LiDAR360 is a point cloud post-processing software, and in most cases, panoramic images are not needed in the post-processing stage.

If you were trying to import the data into LiDAR360MLS software but were unsuccessful, please let me know.

Hello,

First of all, thanks for the fast response. I am referring to LiDAR360MLS. When creating a Georeference Project - Mobile, you have the option to add panoramic or planar images in addition to the point cloud and trajectory. In my project, I would like to add panoramic images, and the camera file format I am using follows the format I mentioned.

Here’s a breakdown of my data:

Point cloud in UTM 34N (EPSG:32634), which imported successfully.

Trajectory in this format, which also imported successfully:
GPSTime, Longitude, Latitude, Height, Roll, Pitch, Heading
Example: 58372.57106, 23.722436764, 37.960891600, 51.545, 3.953459, 2.079026, -37.050279

Camera file (which did not import) in this format:
Filename, Timestamp, X, Y, Z, Pan, Tilt, Roll
Example: F:\LIDAR360MLS_TESTS\MMS_test\Img\ladybug_Panoramic_0000.jpg, 58372.57106, 739171.655, 4204972.606, 49.802, -38.300279, 2.379026, -4.053459
I’m using the Leica Pegasus file (.csv format).

Here’s the folder structure:

Project folder: F:\LIDAR360MLS_TESTS\MMS_test
Trajectory folder: F:\LIDAR360MLS_TESTS\MMS_test\trajectory
Panoramic images folder (contains the camera file as well): F:\LIDAR360MLS_TESTS\MMS_test\Img

However, after adding everything, the created project only includes the point cloud and trajectory, but not the panoramic images. I am not sure what I might be doing wrong. Could it be an issue with the format of my camera file or the structure of my project folder?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!

Hello Echrisanidis,

Thank you for your update! This issue should not be related to the folder structure of the project. Since you were unable to import the panoramic images into the Mobile Project, did the MLS software display any relevant error messages? It would be very helpful if you could provide screenshots of the data import or record a video of the operation. Thank you!

Best regards

Hello Echrisanidis,

Thank you for providing the screenshot. I have shared the information with our R&D department, but we still need some additional details:

  1. Could you please let us know which Leica model you used to collect the data?
  2. Could you kindly share the  CSV format camera file you imported or its screenshot?

Additionally, since your data has already been processed, you could try using the "Create Mapping Project" function to see if the import works correctly.

If possible, could you cut the point cloud near the location of the first photo and send us that point cloud, along with the trajectory and the first photo? Here are the steps to cut the point cloud:

  1. In Tools, click on the Polygon button, and select the needed area in the point cloud.
  2. Click the Cut In button to extract the selected region.
  3. Click Save to store the result.

Please refer to the attached images.

Apologies for the inconvenience, and thank you for your understanding! If you need assistance, feel free to reach out to me.
