Hello Sir /Madam,

I did a job with a SLAM scanner and i am trying to get the diameter of the tree trunks in the area. Now for most trees te result is ok but for some the location of the DBH is off. See this picture:

What can i do to get a better result? Putting the trunk height higher or lower doesn't seem to work.

I Hope someone can help me.

Thankyou in advance.
Nico

Hello Nico,

Apologies for not replying to your question sooner.

You can try selecting a different fitting method in the DBH Measuring function to measure DBH. The default method is circle fitting, but you can also try cylinder fitting or ellipse fitting.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Best regards

Hello Sir/Madam,

Thankyou for the response. So the best solution is to do it by hand.
I have over 900 trees, to check them all is a lot of work. Tweaking settings in the tree segmentation won't help me?

Thankyou in advance.
Nico

Hello Nico,

You can try lowering the "Height Above Ground" value in the Point Cloud Segmentation interface. This adjustment should help you extract a more complete point cloud of the tree trunks from the bottom.

I hope this helps!
