Hello All,

I was re-writing my syllabus for the Fall Semester and decided to include a detailed explanation of the student procedures for the AR program.

Feel free to us this in your syllabi as well.

It would be great if we could all agree on standard procedures so we are a united front!

Let me know if you have any suggestions to make this better.

Thanks Anna! It looks great. Hey i have a question. I'm still looking for a book for my 8th grade English class next semester and am thinking about reading one called The House of the Scorpion. Could you look at it and tell me what you think? Would it be too hard for them? Heres a link to a digital sample: http://bit.ly/14Fd3LL

How are you doing by the way? I really miss you guys and am thinking about you often :)

Della

Hi Della,

Sorry it's taken me a bit to get back with you.  I looked over the book and I think it looks really interesting!  There are a lot of good themes for class discussion and journal entries!

From the sample you sent me, I don't think the content is too mature for them, but some of the themes are a little heavy...you will just have to navigate how in-depth you go with them based on what you think is appropriate.

In terms of reading difficulty, it is hard for me to say since I don't know the English level of your students! I usually like to check books out on the Shmoop (warning: a little bit cynical!) and Scholastic websites.  I've included those links for your book here.

I hope this is helpful.  Let me know if you have any more questions!
