ICICI Foundation launches ICICI Academy for Skills

A large number of our youth graduating from colleges lack the skills that make them employable.

ICICI Academy for Skills will focus on vocational training of the youth to give them the ability to earn a sustainable livelihood. This is a national initiative spread across the country. The key highlights of this initiative are:-

  • 7 centres have been set up in the first phase – Residential centres at Coimbatore, Sangli and Jaipur and non-residential centres at Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore and Pune.

  • The courses offered at Hyderabad will include selling skills, office administration and web designing for graduates. The target age group is 18 to 26 years.

  • The course duration will be 12 weeks and would be free of cost.

  • The students would be provided uniforms and also lunch during the duration of training.

  • All trainees will also be taught a life skills module focusing on communication skills, the ability to function in a work environment and financial literacy.

  • The foundation is also partnering with other corporates like Tally solutions, NIIT, Bluestar and Schneider Electric to leverage their skills and training capabilities in specific areas.

  • To facilitate employment, ICICI Foundation would create an online job portal wherein the trained youth will be registered. The portal would be promoted among potential employers.
