I figured out on my own how to install the clutch rod and such........You kind of need 3 hands but once I stopped the motor from turning, dah !! Bingo !

The second part of this note is..... I bought a new kick lever return spring for this airone but it looks different than the one I want to replace. Could you guys compare this picture of my new one with your existing one? The ID of the hole on the one pictured is 23 mm. Bigger than the old one. In fact, the old spring  won't slide off the kicker shaft unless you force it off or separate the shaft from the pawl.

When the proctologist went to mechanic school he got honors because he rebuilt an engine from the end of the exhaust pipe.

That kick return spring is SOOOO wrong.  Go back and look at the parts diagram.  I'm not specifically familiar with an Airone, but I believe it is not significantly different than a Falcone or SuperAlce.  That hooked end is wrong unless the Airone is VERY different.

The return spring for the SA is way different from the one pictured. I have a spare SA to compare it to. The hook part of the airone that rests on the bolt on the frame and the diameter of the coils is a lot different from old one to new one. The old airone one is positioned on the kicker shaft between a fixed collar on the shaft and the pawl gear. It won't come off the shaft without some effort. It's a tight fit. The number of coils are different too. Old one has 5 coils, new one has 7 coils. New coils are larger diameter.

In the enclosed pictures see the difference between SA spring and unknown new spring. Also, I'm pointing to the collar on the shaft the spring would have to slide over for removal. The kicker pawl is attached to the shaft with dolls if I wanted to hammer it off I'm guessing.

For now everything is under control.........thanx.
