My BSA is running again. Just to refresh, I have been running a BTH magneto with external coils, replacing the stock Lucas unit. It appears that the coils were rubbing the bottom of the fuel tank, leaving a couple of small bare spots and putting flat spots on the coil housings. I put my coil mount in the mill and redid everything to lower the coils as far as possible. It dropped them down about 1/2”. I also cut rubber bands from a bicycle inner tube and put them on the coils for an extra layer of insulation. Spark returned and the engine is making rumbly noises again.

Hi everyone,
I am trying to set up the clutch on my 1953 Airone sport.
The manual is a bit confusing.
I would like to know:

1. How much should I compress the springs on the right side.
2. How much should I screw in the pushrod.
3. Does anyone have a picture of the right side of the pushrod without the ball bearing assembly.

I have a brand new bearing assembly for the right side of the pushrod but it won't fit. I think there is something on my pushrod that should not be there. I am reluctant to remove this piece in case I damage the pushrod, hence I need a good photo of what it should look like without the bearing assembly.

I would be grateful for any help.
Thanks
Jef Walker UK.

Coils need to dissipate heat. I wonder if insulating them will have an impact on their life expectancy.

These coils are modern, plastic housed and potted in epoxy or resin. The rubber bands I cut are only 1/4-5/16” wide. Just enough to cover and slightly overlap the worn spots. A photo of the coil attached.
