I believe that I have found the trouble with 1950 Airone gearbox. It is stuck in top gear. What I have found is that the direct drive gear and bushing are stuck on the primary shaft. The gear will not slide nor rotate on the shaft. Penetrating oil, heat and pressure applied by a gear puller bring no joy.. I would not expect the bronze bussing in the gear hub would be so well fused to the shaft. I believe that the gear should freely slide off the drive sprocket side of the shaft. Am I missing something here?
