I attended the Brooks Collection auction today in San Jose.  Probably 300 people in attendance to buy 200 bikes and loads of miscellaneous paraphernalia.

The good news is that I didn't have to waste any money of my own.  If there is a recession under way, these people don't know about it!  I guess buying a vintage bike is better than buying some bogus bank stock.

The lighted Guzzi Dealer sign went for $900.
A ratted out Convert engine and transmission went for $250.
A really fine Nuovo Falcone electric start went for $5000 (probably a good deal).
A GTV with numerous major sheet metal issues went for $7500.
An almost perfect SuperAlce went for $6000.
A seriously worn out Astore went for $6000.
Maybe the best deal was a '67 complete but corroded V7 Special that went at $2500.

The only sensible 'deal' was a rusted Convert tank that went for $5.00

I gave my contact info to the guy who bought the SuperAlce (Los Angeles I think).  The auction pace was much too quick to see who bought the others.  Remember that all of these bid prices get an auctioneer's 15% tacked on above before you can roll it away!!!!!!

I'd bet the former dealer didn't pay $900 for that sign.........Patrick , did you bid on the SA? Looks like a decent price at $6000 but we know they have sold for more.....

I was registered as a bidder but with no intention to buy.  I was only there in case something was stupid low.  These prices were way over my maximum option.  Bidding was fast, so I had no need to jump in.  Once it crossed my threshold, I was just a spectator.

Another friend of mine bought a Triumph but it didn’t sound like it was a screaming deal or anything.
