I have been buying some Lodola parts from a guy in Italy, he has a 100% ebay rating and seems to be a fair and honest guy to deal with. He owns some older Guzzi's and in his last email said he was also selling an Alce he owns, which is currently in the UK. I told him to send me some info and I'd pass it along, so here you are. I have also downloaded some photo's he sent into a Mobile Me gallery, click on the link and you can access them. He said he's looking for €5000 for the bike, I have no idea if this is crazy, reasonable or whatever, plus I have no dog in this fight, but thought it worth passing along to the group. If you have an interest in talking to him, hit me off-list and I'll forward his contact info.
Best,

Hello Mike,
All right, then, do I ship the parcel?
The Alce is a 1939 bike, has no documents but can have Guzzi registration document in which you can see the frame and engine numbers and the exact day when it was made. The bike is not running but the engine is turning frrely with compression, I had no time to work on it: i bought it just before having the chance to buy the GTC that is a very very rare bike. The bike is 90% complete, some minor parts are missing. As Guzzi has now problems I wasn't able to obtain the original certificate proving which kind of Alce it was as they were made for the Army in green, for the Africa Army in sand and for the Milizia (police) in red. The last may be the case of this Alce because the painting and chrome seems unmolested and there is the fairing at the rear mudguard, also the gear lever was foot and not hand on the tank, even if I bought a tank lever. On ebay i saw another Alce exactly as mine. In this moment in Italy Alce and Superalce are not expensive, for a good Airone or Falcone (even not sport) you pay a lot but for the Alce, that is a very important bike, you don't pay a lot, this is the reason why I'm not so happy to sell it.
I attach some pictures. The bike is now in UK as it is easy there to get a plate and then get the plate in Italy where it is otherwise getting a plate if you have any document.
I forgot to say, the Alce is in Sheffield, if someone wish to see it I can give you the tel. number of my friend.
Best regards
Stefano
