I'm replacing the clutch disc pack on my Falcone. As original, it
includes 2 Ferodo compound disks, 5 steel plates, 5 bronze plates.

Now I've stumbled across some strange pictures in my files. I have no
recollection of who sent these to me or who vends such a product. This
"new technology" clutch still includes 2 Ferodo compound discs, but now
only 3 steel plates, and 3 totally new compound plates. While the
original bronze plates were a single, metallic thickness throughout,
these new plates appear to have a layer of friction compound glued to
each side. The plates are thus much thicker and this explains the
reduction in numbers of plates.

Has anyone seen such a modified clutch?
Who sent these pics to me? I don't own a blue caliper.
Anyone have experience with such a kit and can opine on improved or
degraded performance?

I find it strange that there are three of each. Normally the outer discs would be the same, either steel or friction. I'm guessing the clutch is designed with an outer steel plate not spinning against either the basket or the pressure plate.
With new technology in clutches, I've been pretty happy. I put a Kevlar clutch in Chris's Henderson and it performs as it was said it would.
Logically fewer discs are good as there are fewer faces that might slip.

Surely logically fewer faces mean less friction area so more chance to slip? Maybe it’s just that your new stuff is much better?
