Hello Guzzi Singels,

I just inherited this motorcycle along with a 1954 Triumph Terrier. Both super fun bikes. When I do a search for the 1951 Airone, I don't see one with the same full fenders as mine. Can anyone help me identify?

Hi Vincent, good looking bike but a bitza I think. The huge tank, deep rear mudguard and one piece seat I haven't seen on any Airone including military versions. Tank looks like it might be from a Nuovo Falcone.

I have seen a similar seat that I was told was for a Airone but never one mounted.
Nifty bike, enjoy!

This seat was on my bike when I got it ,,,,,,, it also has an aftermarket gas tank that was on the bike when the PO purchased it in Europe when he bought it many years ago. And the story goes he and his future wife traveled all over Europe on this bike before it was shipped to the USA where he and his wife eventually moved to. PO is living in Florida as we speak ......

I found this, it looks exactly like my bike and the same year.

I found this on the Interwebs, this exactly like my bike and listed as a 1951 as well. I like the way it looks, just want to figure out exactly what it is.

Could it simply be it was an earlier picture of your actual bike? Have looked again at pictures of Airone Sport from 1949, 51, 52 and 53. They all look similar with lower profile tank and separate sprung riders seat. Nothing vaguely like yours in Mario Colombo's book on Guzzi history either despite several pictures.

Thanks for checking Richard. My uncle imported this bike from Italy, there is a ton of information that comes with the bike I need to go thru when I pick it up. The bike in the photo was in Canada but possible it is the same bike.

Either way I really like the way the bike looks.

This is my bike. I imported it three or four years ago directly from Italy. I saw it on the Internet. It was built by an 80 year old mechanic in Lavorno. I presumed he constructed it to make it look like a Gambghino from the 1950s but the longer I’ve had it and the more research I’ve done, it has a lot of interesting factory racing parts on it. Magnesium drum brakes, rear subframe is Hydroluminum, and the fenders are hand formed. I can even find the factory green primer under the silver paint. The bike was never painted red.

My thought exactly. I studied both pictures very carefully. The crotch
pillow is very rare. Look at the pink plug at the outer end of the left
handlebar. This is THE SAME bike in different pictures.

Its a fine bike as is. No need to angst about various personal alterations.

Thanks for sharing Alan, cool story about your bike. Makes me like mine even more now. Can't wait to go thru all the paperwork. I will post any findings here.

An interesting older reproduction racer came up for sale recently in Brisbane Australia.
