ID by engine number?

I had a friend stop by today. He has a single but knows little about it. The bike is in OK and I'm in CA so I can't look at much. He had a photo of the engine number which was FAG14. Can displacement, year or anything be figured out from that?

Numbers are a total crapshoot. Unless you have factory paperwork, any
other data related to a frame/engine number is suspect at best.

Tell him to send you more pictures. Share those. Much more likely to
get an accurate assessment of model and likely projection of year.
