Does anyone have a method of fitting a bar-end mirror to the throttle side of handlebars with internal controls, please?

I tried and decided it was not possible without redesigning the handlebar and throttle mechanism.

Other options are Albert or Bumm headlight mirrors that replaces the headlight bolt(s) as used most on older BMWs .
In a pinch look to bicycle mirrors.

At the moment, the bike has an Amal twist grip.  I have an unobtrusive bicycle bar-end mirror (convex) which has really surprised me at how good it is. I only have one eye so life-saver looks are compromised. I'm not sure that the headlight mirrors will give such a good view? Handlebar mirrors on stalks look incongruous on pre-war bikes IMO,...

If it is an Amal twist grip. Not Guzzi, then bar end mirrors should fit fine.  Doesn’t Steve At Bevel Heaven sell them ?

It has a bar-end mirror fitted now  but I want to fit the correct throttle and somehow rig up a similar mirror.

There is a handle bar clamp style fixture with metric threads you can slide over the bars and fit a mirror on either side.

Go to dime city web site in Florida and do a search for the clamp type mirror clamp. Lots of choices

Keep in mind the standard bar diameter is 1” or possibly 24mm. If 24mm a normal 1’ clamp will probably need shimming. Certainly, simpler than redesigning the bar end mechanics to provide a stationary end to clamp the mirror on. Also, if you have a Sport that will complicate things further by having less open bar to mount to.

These are high quality bar-ends, if the throttle assembly can shift 10mm or so inboard. However, they're for 7/8" ( a shade under 22mm) bars. There may be enough meat to enlarge the mounting hole.

That's the problem. He wants to return to the internal throttle assembly. It's fixed at the end of the bar.
The CRG mirrors BTW are the best. I prefer the "Lane Splitter" version which has a double jointed folding feature. In a more classic look the real Stadium's are the best.

that is way too much money for any kind of mirror ,,,,, do you want form over function ,,,,,,,, safety first ,,,,, these machines aren't in a museum on display so until then just buy the clamp on type

Look on eBay there are thousands of them. $40 for a pair or less!

But I think the headlight style looks a lot better.

Tim is correct; it is  indeed form over function for me I had simply hoped to keep the less obtrusive bar end mirror. I think it's going to have to be a clamp-on, it's not worth the risk in the manic English traffic. Thanks for all the tips and recommendations, guys. Mush appreciated.

Sorry, function over form! The bike gets ridden a lot🙂

Tim are you criticizing the CRG mirror because of price? If so, I think you misunderstood my opinion. Yes, they are expensive but I did not try to qualify anything based on price. In my experience they are simply the best mirror you can buy. Not the cheapest, not the prettiest but as a functional piece of safety equipment. Granted I haven’t tried them all but I’ve used quite a variety. The CRG has a nicely convexed glass giving a wide field of vision without loosing a lot of range. They mount solidly and will stay put at over 100mph. The mounting is simple requiring as little as about 13-14mm of barend or they have an optional barend fitting that provides it’s own mounting zone. Vibration is nil. They are very much function oriented at the expense of trying to look vintage or going after the swoopy new wave style. That said they do offer an “Arrow” style which I run on my Hypermotard. They fit the angular design better than a round but do not offer the “lane splitter” feature. When in close quarters you need to manually flip them up.

The real Stadium mirrors are a bit pricey too, compared to the look-a-likes from Asia. Still on a functional level they provide a more vibration free and solid mounting then the rubber expansion plug Asian mirrors.

Building display/show bikes are a big part of my job. Those bikes never even see mirrors.

Fully agree with you Rick on the CRG Lane Splitter mirror. Definitely function, not simply form.

I use CRG on all my small bikes and the Halcyon (Stadium copies) on my bigger bikes.

But hey, it’s an individual choice. YMMV.

It is a choice. To be honest I probably never would have tried one except I had a friend working for CRG and he gave me one to try.

That got me to buy the next 5-6 since. On my Hypermotard I’ve had to buy two pairs because it’s a tall bike and I’ve had a couple of flops. In between I tried a pair of knock offs which were not as solid and had flat glass which gave up a lot of field of vision. They were on my bike for just a few months.
I don’t mind spending money when I find a piece of equipment I like. Especially when it comes to safety related equipment. I like good mirrors too. I’ve run wink mirrors in my sporty type cars for 50 years.
