Hi Guys,

I'll need to change the tyres on my Falcone Sport soon. Any recommendations?

Regards,

Steve.

PS I actually managed to fill up with some leaded 4 star petrol. She seems way faster on it...

I have an Avon Speedmaster on the front and an Avon Safety Mileage on the rear of my Astore. These are not performance tires but they are stable and predictable in both wet and dry conditions.

The problem with Avon SM is that is is a "tall" tyre with the result that it can rub against the cross piece at the bottom part of the swinging arm and also can make the bike unstable on the centre stand.
This was my experience and why I no longer use SM on the rear.
Avon GP 350x19 used to be perfect but are now only made for race use (and are so marked).
I would suggest Dunlop  K81 TT100 360 x H19 for the rear but stick with Avon Speedmaster for the front.
That will be my rear choice when I next do a tyre change on my Falcone Sports.

It does not seem to be a problem on the Astore.

My ribbed Avon and my Avon Universal fit my falcone just fine.

I’d check out Heidenau. The have a good range of vintage sized and looking tires that perform well.

I spent quite a bid of time looking for a front tire for my '50 Airone Sport. I found a ribbed Avon 300X19
on Avon's UK site that linked me to a US distributor. When I tried to find the tire again from the US site it
was not listed. (?) So go back to Avon's UK site and link to the US distributor, and there's the tire. I ordered
it there with no problems. For the back I use the Dunlap K70. Looks the part, works well. They make a 325
and 350X19 for the front with the same tread pattern.

If anyone is looking for small tires check out Treatland.TV. A moped super store with a large selection of tires.

Here in the US, I just bought two more 3.00-19 Speedmaster MK II, DOT tires from JC Motor, in Irvine, CA.   They did not list them, but this guy, found them in an Avon warehouse, about $100 each.

Tires unlimited don't list the 300x19.

It must have been JC motor that I got mine from.

I spoke with an Avon rep a few years ago and he told me to always check because they stock a lot of sizes not listed in their catalogues.

I just had a look at my tire distributor and they have exactly one 3.00x19 Avon Speedmaster AM6 in stock. If anybody is interested at $100 plus shipping let me know.

Thanks,
Kevin

As a matter of fact, when I was looking for the 3.00-19 Speedmasters last December, this is the guy that found them in a variety of warehouses in the US.  A really helpful guy, he also called JC, told them where to look and they then called me to say they could drop ship them from a warehouse in Virginia, as I recall.
Also, when I was after the pair I just got, I found a couple of dealers listing the Speedmaster, but  in non DOT race compound.
