Hi all.
I quite recently bought an Epson perfection v850 and i'm trying to decide which software to use for scanning 48bit raw images for tweaking (reflective scanning of objects, not film scanning).
I have been using silverfast se plus 8 which came with the scanner, and my raw scans are very dark and i discovered i need to get additional software to make use of them properly.
What would you recommend i do?
Thanks Jim, andyc61 and more for the positive comments. Great to hear and thanks for being a customer. I'm kind of late to the party here but "the more , the merrier" :-)
Jim, thanks for sharing the flickr link to your interesting aviation archive. We always love to see awesome images created by our users plus we loooove planes, as some users might have guessed correctly already.
I'm glad to be here and will try to contribute as much helpful information as good as I can and hope my arrival here is welcomed. Safe scanning! - Jan
Do you keep a lot of slides, negatives and photo prints? These images retain the memories of your most important moments in life, and they need to be protected. Around the world, billions of images are waiting to be digitized and archived.
I have only scratched the surface of this wonderful scanning and processing software, but I can certainly tell you that when I begin scanning my archives I will know what to use to get the job done in a fast, efficient, and high-quality manner. The wide range of features that come packaged with the software is more than likely more than the average image maker will use. If you are serious about archiving your material, and you want it done well, then this is the software for you.
When digitizing a slide archive, the large scanning surface of flatbed scanners allow many originals to be placed on the scanner glass at once. Manufacturers generally supply holders for slides and film strips (transparency originals) of various sizes for 35mm and medium format with their scanners, or these can be ordered as accessories. Transparency masters are placed directly on the scanner glass.
