The Voting Habits Of Guyanese!

Guyana's Democratic quest is still unfolding politically and socially.
However, it is common in most countries where one ethnic group is in
the majority, to determine the outcome (most times), at any general or
national elections. This phenomena is not peculiar to Guyana alone.

Just look at Iraq currently. The majority Shia Muslims are now the
ones who will be the ruling majority, after Sadaam Hussein's wilful
religious, discriminatory actions, and political dictatorship for so
many years. In India, the Hindu majority will always rule because the
majority is Hindu, and most Hindus will vote for their own kind
naturally.

Finally, when it comes to voting, most of us do so traditionally,
emotionally, ethnically, and religiously. It requires very Rational
and Objective thinking to allow oneself to ignore the above
determinants at voting time!

How Do You Co-op Support From The Majority?

In any political climate where one ethnic or religions group
dominates, it is absolutely necessary to do the following:

* Have candidates that look like or is of the ethnicity of the target
group, to advocate for and on your behalf.

* Have these candidates/advocates find out or enquire into the needs
of those whom they are targeting.

* Create a National Manifesto/Platform that appeals to the needs of a
wide cross section of the populace/commonweal.

* And strive ardently to convince them all, that you can deliver on
most of those promises if given the opportunity to do so.

Lastly, never make promises that are un-realistic to achieve, or is
obviously too farfetched to be attainable.

This is the approach that aught to provide some advantage, when
soliciting those who can make a difference in your victory or loss!
