Walmart this week launched a revamped mobile app with new features, including Store Assistant, which the retailer described as "a totally re-imagined experience for in-store shopping," that activates when shoppers visit physical Walmart stores, according to a company blog post.

When customers visit Walmart stores, the Walmart mobile app on their smartphones flips into the Store Assistant mode to offer features like a barcode scanner, product search bar, customer reviews and Walmart Pay. Other new features include: the ability to build shopping lists, automatically calculate total cart cost, including tax; and use in-store navigation and maps.

More mobile features are in the works, Daniel Eckert, senior vice president of Walmart Services and Digital Acceleration, wrote in the blog post. "Imagine dropping pins on a store map tied to the location of items on your list, enabling you to plan your route through our stores, and the ability to book services like an oil change in advance," he said.

The new Store Maps feature, has already been made available in a small number of stores, and will roll out to the rest gradually. That and the new depth of information available on a store-by-store basis are both things that in a subtle way may help individual Walmart stores forge a more personal bond with customers in their local markets.

I'm having the same problem, I just got my watch, some apps that I know that are supported like Google assistant and Komoot just don't show up in the store. The assistant won't show on the settings either so it's not installed

Say hello to Shop, a digital shopping assistant app that brings together the best features of Arrive and Shop Pay (formerly Shopify Pay) to make it easy for customers to speed through checkout, track their order and shipment details, and rediscover brands they love.

There are no settings to adjust here, either: Shop Facts automatically displays details that strengthen customer trust. And once an order is out of your hands and on its way to a customer, Shop helps maintain that trust by providing transparent order and shipment information.

Thanks for the information provided and for your efforts. While you mentioned that your phone is fully updated, have you made sure your Sense and the Fitbit app are updated? Because your post didn't mention, please give a try to the suggestions shared in my post and make sure the Fitbit app is running in the background so the voice assistant can work correctly on your watch.

@PmillerAllDay I had my share of configuration problems with the google assistant, which start to work and at some point was not working anymore. One of those iteration has been documented here: -assistant-connection-lost/m-p/4627207#M10045

Thanks for the suggestion. Syncing is still working for me, but Google assistant seems to be dead (removing and setting up again leads to a blank screen). Tried all the steps listed in this thread but no luck.

There's a new update available for the Google app on the play store (released today). After updating, the problem is fixed (for me) and I was able to setup assistant for fitbit again. Might be worth a try.

Okay, what they forget to tell you is that you have to set up Wi-Fi in your app, and has to be running before you can set up your assistant. So I went in set my Wi-Fi up made sure it was connected and then went back and set up the sense it worked flawlessly, so more of the story make sure your Wi-Fi is connected otherwise it won't connect mine I clicked and it went to a blank page and did nothing. Make sure in your settings it's connected to sense, make sure it is connected to the internet not just there, connected and blue.

Please make sure to setup on wrist calls and WiFi. Also make sure not to sync with any other device via bluetooth. If you sync with more than one device then google assistant may not work or may work with one it paired last.

Tried everything mentioned in forum. still doesn't connect to Google assistant. I've had nothing but problems with my fitbit. Sleep app also doesn't work and was on phone with service who couldn't fix it. so now I have basically steps and that's it. Totally fed up with Fitbit. They should call it Lemonbit.

I just bought a brand new Fitbit Sense FB512, and ran into similar trouble with turning on Google Assistant. I discovered that somehow in the initial setup that the phone app took me through to answer several questions (since the screen on the Sense watch itself told me I had to go to the phone app first), I had apparently denied Fitbit access to certain hardware functions that the watch uses as a go between with the phone itself-- such as the microphone-- anyhow to resolve the "permissions" issue with Fitbit and my phone (Android, Samsung Galaxy S9) I opened the phone's settings, opened the apps section, searched and opened the Fitbit app info, scrolled down to "app settings" section where there's a shortcut to "Permissions"..... I discovered that several areas of the phone had been denied (again probably from "operator error" on my part), so I ended up turning on permission to everything in the "denied" column including microphone of course. Then I tapped the "force stop", waiting a few seconds, then tapped "Open" to launch Fitbit, tapped the "Sense" under my account, tapped the "voice assistant" to open the view for Google Assistant, It was still showing the "disconnected" status, tapped it to launch the "activate Google Assistant" again, then VOILA it worked! The Sense watch now responds to my long press of the Sense button to launch Google Assistant, it does not require me to say "Hay Google", I just say whatever command comes to mind (i tested it with just "what time is it?") and it announced through the watch speaker the time, and displayed time and date on the watch face. Hope this helps anyone with similar Google Assistant/Sense activation difficulty. To summarize again, in my case it was most likely from my own "operator error" denying the Fitbit app to access my phone's apps and hardware that has anything to do with the proper function of Google Assistant.

Hello again, when you opened the Fitbit app info in your Google Pixel 5 settings/apps, did it show anything listed in the apps section/permissions list as "denied"? Just curious-- when I discovered I had inadvertently denied the Fitbit app permission to access my phone's microphone, including several other items like camera, contacts, and other apps I just tapped on each to open the "allow/deny" buttons and tapped "allow" on everything, then backed out to main Fitbit app info page where the "open/uninstall/force stop" appear at the bottom, I then tapped "force stop" waited a few seconds then tapped "open" to launch Fitbit, tapped the account icon top left corner, tapped my Sense device listed there, tapped the voice assistant icon, tapped Google Assistant to activate, waited for the big rotating circle, then poof it worked, the Google Assistant icon now shows "ACTIVATED" on mine. The only thing I can think of in your case is maybe open your Google Assistant phone app, go to the account page, see what's listed in "personal devices"-- if your watch is listed there, tap it to open its settings for GA and select "Turn off Google Assistant" by tapping the big X on the right. THEN go back and do the above procedure. Let me know if it works for you (or not). Just curious, I'm only on day 2 of my complete history of messing with the Fitbit Sense watch and its corresponding phone app (on my Samsung)!

Google paid Samsung billions of dollars in order to make the search giant's app store, assistant, search engine, and other services the default options on smartphones made by the latter, according to information that has emerged during the ongoing Google vs Epic Games trial. On Monday, Google Vice President for Partnerships James Kolotouros revealed that the company signed deals with various smartphone manufacturers, including the South Korean tech conglomerate, to have the Google Play store installed out-of-the-box on Android phones.

Under Google's 'Project Banyan' initiative that began in 2019, the company planned to spend $200 million on a deal that would have Samsung distribute its Galaxy Store app via the Play Store, according to the report. While that deal did not work out, the company agreed to pay Samsung $8 billion (roughly Rs. 66,500 crore) over a period of four years to have the Play Store exist on Samsung phones alongside the smartphone maker's app store.
