Subject: Creative Help!

Hello Neelamji/Milindji

I need help from the creative committee with the upcoming Gurukul Cultural day!  My class is enacting a play about 6 blind men and the elephant.

I am wondering if creative committee can come up with ideas to make the elephant.  Even better, if they can take this as a project and run with it.

Can you please fwd my email to the group, to see what they think?

Thanks

Veena

Hi Veena,
Are you envisioning one kid to play the part of the elephant wearing an elephant costume ( grey pant, gray full sleeve shirt, with an elephant face that we can make with big ears and trunk)..
or
would you like to have a really big elephant cut out/costume that involves two or three kids together?

We need at least 4 boys to represent 4 legs of elephant.  They can cover them with some thing round for pillar like effect.  Let the group develop ideas for tusk, body tail etc etc.  And we need 6 blind men too....  I can also take a pre-screening make up test.

Dear Team Members!

Happy Easter to you!

I have been following up on all the emails. While we have been brain storming there has been 1 more request. Kindly see the email below for the same.

The nature of requests has caught me by surprise but I am so happy to see your enthusiasm. We can make it happen - together. We all know the story of the 6 blind men who touch different parts of the elephant and come up with different conclusions. We don't just have to think of the body of the elephant but also the trunk, ears, tail, legs, etc.

Since we shall be getting a lot of requests of this nature within the next few weeks, why don't we pick some leads for this effort. Anyone who wants to lead this effort? We will all be there to help and follow instructions from the lead. Please involve your spouses and kids as well if you think they have better idea.

Awaiting your responses.

Neelam

Neelam ji,

I want to be your second client.  The task to your creative group is - Decorate the hall for the Annual Cultural day.  Make it like we have never seen such beautiful decoration before.  People attending the event should get amazed as soon as they enter the hall.  Prepare/plan the decoration before time deciding what will go where.  Do not limit yourself to the walls; use your imagination to decorate the walkway, around the chairs, on the floor near the performance area, etc.  The event is on Sunday, May 22nd, so your team has Friday evening and Saturday to decorate.  We can find more volunteers to help if you can tell me what you plan to do.  I want to make it a grand event.

Can you and your team live up to this challenge?

Regards,
Milind

Dear Veenaji,

Thank you so much for our very first project :-) I have forwarded the email to our creative group and let's see what they can come up with.

Milindji / Dilipbhai: Could you please forward the Creative group details to all the teachers (all subjects) so that they can write to us about any help they need. This is why this group was created.

Thank you once again Veenaji. You are our very FIRST Client :-)

Neelam

Good Morning!

I haven't heard from anyone after my last email so am guessing that you are not so ready for it / fond of it. I have given it some thought. Why don't we line up / decorate the hall with alphabets and words from all languages that we teach and write Gurukul with the pics of the kids. This coming week is picture day and if you all think it is a good idea I can ask Milindji to give us an extra copy of the pics.

Let me know. The cultural program is on the 22nd of May.

Thanks!

Neelamji,
Sorry, have been under the weather again!!

As for the hall decorations, I guess there are so many possibilities.. Time and budget of course will be our constraints :)

I liked your idea of decorating the walls with alphabets from the languages taught at Gurukul.   Are we decorating just the one wall behind the performance area ? I think there are windows on other two walls on the sides, right?

The word 'Gurukul' made with pictures of the kids will be a nice backdrop on the wall behind the performance area. We can add a Gurukul logo ( if we have one) or the temple logo to it..
I am thinking having a screen like cloth in the background and pinning our 'Gurukul' pictures on it will give it stage like effect. We can also make cut outs of books and lamps to go with the knowledge/enlightment theme..
Are there any decorative lighting / chair covers etc that the temple already owns that we might be able to use for this occassion ?

I think it will be nice if the team gets together at the temple this weekend so we can visualize better and come up with more ideas.

Swathi

Here are some pictures to get us started.. I was trying to see how to use cloth / sarees / lights to decorate the backdrop to the main performance area..
Something that's not too expensive but practial and elegant..

Does the temple own big indian style lamps, decorative electric lights, floor rugs  for the stage area etc that we be able to use?

Dearest Swathi Sji,

Hope you are feeling better now. I can fully understand all you are going through.

I would like to call a meeting for our group on this Sunday to discuss Cultural Program. Swathi Tji / Sushmaji please come and attend this meeting as we will need your skills for sure. Also, atleast 1 person from every language should be there. Why? Because my thought is that since this is GURUKUL program we need to showcase what Gurukul does - teach dharma and languages. That should be the core of all our plans. When parents come they should see what we do every week.

I look forward to meeting you all at 10:30 AM, this coming Sunday, near the dining area. I shall be requesting for Youth volunteers to come as well.

Thanking you in advance, as usual!

Neelam
