I am using Gurobi for solving MIP's using the Java API's. This is on a linux ubuntu 14.04 machine.

Everything works fine most of the time, but at times I hit the following error:

gurobi.GRBException: HostID mismatch (licensed to 2f5f4e41, hostid is 0) - license file '/users/raajay86/gurobi.lic'

Any idea what is happening here? I have an academic license.

Thanks
Raajay

hostid 0 means your computer has no network adaptor. To get a Gurobi license on Linux, it requires a network adaptor.

A Gurobi license on Linux requires a network adaptor.

I do have a network adaptor. Note that this error is not thrown always.
"grbgetkey" works fine, and I am able to use Gurobi.

Only when the number of times I invoke the optimization becomes very high, I get an error.

Are you running on a laptop or virtual machine?

Running on a physical machine, not a VM.

Hi. Is this issue been solved somehow? I am experiencing the very same problem with gurobi 650 on a debian physical machine. This error is not thrown always but only when the number of times I invoke the optimization becomes high.  "grbgetkey" works fine too, btw.
thanks in advance for your kind assistance.
marco.

Sedbo,

Do you mean that the problem happens after running gurobi for a while, or that after you reinstalled the system you got a different HostID?
If the latter, you can always get a new license for the machine.

But today suddenly it stopped working! My licence is till 2018 vaild.

What should I do?

Hi Amir,

Maybe your primary network adapter changed? maybe you where connected in a different form? that will change the machine ID. If the change is permanent, you can request a new license.

Best,
Daniel
