Hi,

I am getting this error: No HostID specified in license file. As I
could not find any documentation dealing with this error, I don't have
a clue what is going on. I am using MAC OS, I have obtained the
licence, downloaded "gurobi.lic", copy and pasted to the directory /
library/gurobi301/. I am using, however, AMPL in another folder
(calling Gurobi). Can anyone help me with this one?

First, make sure the file is called gurobi.lic and not gurobi.lic.txt; some browsers including Safari add the .txt extension. Second, check that the standalone version of Gurobi Optimizer is working before installing and configuring Gurobi Solver for AMPL. And of course, users of Free Academic Licenses must run grbvalidate to validate your Gurobi license.

You should also check that your license key file has not been corrupted. You can download it again by logging into the Gurobi website and selecting Licenses from the User's Menu on the left.

I received that message once. While double checking my path, I
realized that I entered the parent directory of the gurobi.lic file,
and not the file itself as GRB_LICENSE_FILE.

The error message is misguiding, it should rather state that the
referred "file" is a folder, or that there exists no file by that
name.

We've heard of people running into this error message, but so far we
haven't received enough information to be able to reproduce it. Your
message makes it clear what's happening.

We'll improve the message.

Thanks,
Ed
