GIFT cordially invites you to International Telugu Internet Conference (ITIC 2011). This is a first of its kind conference, to assess and take stock of the current state of affairs in the use of Internet and Information Technology for the promotion of Telugu language. ITIC 2011 will be held from September 28 to 30th in Silicon Valley, CA, USA.
A considerable number of experts in the area of Telugu Language Computing have been working in the areas of Internet and Information Technology for some time. A greater need is seen today than ever before to bring all of them on to a single forum facilitating dialogue among them as a concerted approach aiming for the development of research and dissemination of information in Telugu for the benefit of public. CALL FOR ABSTRACTS ANNOUNCEMENT
Global Internet Forum for Telugu (GIFT) is pleased to announce that the International Telugu Internet Conference 2011 (First in the series) will be held at the India Community Center, Milpitas, USA during September 28-30, 2011.
Prof. Peri Bhaskararao (Tokyo) has kindly agreed to be the Chair of Conference Program Committee (CPC). Prof. G. Uma Maheshwar Rao (University of Hyderabad) has given his consent to be the Convener of the Conference Program Committee (CPC). Information about various committees for the conduct of the Conference will be updated shortly. Dilip Kondiparti will be the Chair of the Conference Organizing Committee (COC) and KiranPrabha will be the Chair of ITIC 2011 Conference Secretariat Committee (CSC).
The CPC will deal with paper submission and scheduling of the conference content (invited lectures and submitted papers). The theme of this conference has been proposed as “Telugu in the Internet Age” aiming to the development of research on computational literary research for Telugu.
We take this opportunity to invite technical papers for presentation at ITIC 2011 on all topics relating Telugu with Computers and/or Internet in general and research on Telugu literary studies with Computers and/or Internet in particular. Please send in your abstracts not later than 31st July 2011. We will try to expedite the acceptance of abstracts and papers as and when we receive them facilitating the international scholars to be able to obtain their visa and funding from their institutions on time.
Being the Inaugural Conference, ITIC 2011 will hold intensive and extensive technical sessions dealing with all aspects of the use of Telugu on the internet. Following is a preliminary list of topics (which can be further expanded):

- PAPER SUBMISSIONS AND ACCEPTANCE:
-- Potential paper-presenters should send Abstracts (half of A4 page size) of their intended papers by July 31st , 2011.
-- The abstracts will be reviewed and by August 8th, 2011and the submitters will be informed whether their abstracts have been accepted or otherwise.
-- By August 29th, a 3-to-4-page long paper will be due from those whose abstracts have been accepted.
- FORMAT:
-- Medium: All submissions (abstracts and full-length papers) need to be sent electronically in Unicode-encoded format (both for Roman as well as for Telugu). Matter composed in Roman should be in 12pt Times New Roman and matter composed in Telugu should be in a Unicode compliant encoding (using fonts such as Gautami and preferably, Potana). Submissions in non-Unicode compliant fonts will not be entertained. In some cases, PDF versions of the full-length papers will be required (and will be asked if necessary).
-- Template: Although there is no template prescribed for the submission of abstracts, a Template file in MSWord will be prescribed for submission of full-length papers. It will be uploaded onto the Conference website. Whether it is a template submission or not, the Unicode-compliance prescribed above will have to be strictly followed.
- PRE-CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS:
-- All the accepted full-length papers will be issued in a Pre-Conference Proceedings volume (in print or in electronic format or in both). This volume will be made available during the Conference.
- PAPER PRESENTATION:
-- An accepted paper need to be presented orally by one the authors of the paper. Time-limits, and other procedures etc. for actual presentation at the conference will be prescribed in due course. Since the author has to present and participate in the ensuing discussion, papers cannot be presented in absentia.
