guppy and python problems on Ubuntu (+ attachment)

I urgently need to retrieve some files from my "old" Topfield TF5010PVR.
The distro is: Ubntu 8.04.3 -> Hardy (lts)
The version of: puppy: 1.11
guppy: 1.0.1
(both .deb packages downloaded from savannah and installed using dpkg -i)
This is the output of what I did and the problem I encounter, even after I
added python2.4-dev who did installed the python2.4-minimal etc:
$ sudo puppy -c dir
d 0 Wed Jan 1 00:00:00 2003 DataFiles
d 0 Wed Jan 1 00:00:00 2003 ProgramFiles
d 0 Wed Jan 1 00:00:00 2003 MP3
(this is OK).
But now:
$ sudo guppy
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/guppy", line 82, in <module>
from guppy import GuppyWindow
ImportError: No module named guppy
What is it expecting, I totally not understand Python so please help!

Thanks for reporting the bug. While I fix this bug, in the mean time you can use the previous version of Guppy which does not have this problem. Please try the following.
1. Download the Guppy source from here: http://guppy.googlecode.com/files/guppy-1.0.3.tar.bz2
2. Extract the tarball.
3. Go into the Guppy directory and type "make"
4. Run Guppy with ./guppy/guppy
