It catched crystal clear audio in full stereo, mono and mixed. It is also easy to use. But I was a little bit disappointed then the battery was empty after a night in automatic mode. I now know it consume power in auto also, but not so much. A minor problem.

Once the knob is set to the preferred setting the sound is fine. HOWEVER, do not adjust the knob while recording, or a loud crackling will be inducted into the track. I tried to adjust the balance between Shotgun & Stereo under several different recording levels and any time I slightly turned the knob crackling was recorded. I had to create several independent test tracks at different settings prior to recording the keeper track. This may not be an issue for some unless you are trying to vary between focusing on a specific sound source (speaker) then adjusting to capture ambient while recording.

Otherwise, the sound quality is very good when the desired setting is made prior to hitting record. In this manner, the SMX-30V functions similarly to the SMX-30. Select your setting then record your video/sound.

There are certain bands that the Hub City "adopts". Among those bands are people like In This Moment, Jackyl, Sevendust, Papa Roach, and yes, even Pantera before they became popular. I'm sure a lot of towns feel the way about these and other bands, but there's no denying that Lubbock folks have a passion for these bands. Nonpoint has been on our radar and our shows since we heard "What A Day" in 2001. From that point songs like "Bullet With A Name" and my personal favorite, "Miracle" really cemented the band as a force in Nu-Metal.

I believe that just Nonpoint all alone could sell out Jake's Backroom, but instead, you get a packed bill. (hed) P.E. and Dropout Kings round out what will no doubt be an amazingly intense night. It is billed as "The Million Watts" tour, and I think you will certainly feel the crackle of that kind of electricity in the air.

The show will happen on May 1st in Jake's Backroom. In case you're wondering, that is a Wednesday, so go ahead and file for that Personal Time Off at work for the next day. This show will kick off what we're calling "A Month of MAYhem" for reasons that should become apparent pretty soon. Tickets can be found on the J & B Productions website or at StubHub today by using the presale code MILLIONWATTS and physical tickets should arrive at Ralph's by Friday.
