Okay, so a movie or series released primarily to streaming would make money based on the ads that non-premium members see while watching it, right? But a lot of people shill out for the ad-free memberships, and outside the ads I can't figure how any money made by the studio can be specifically ascribed to one project.

  • Rating
Regulators or organizations in each marketplace create ratings criteria for movies and TV shows, however if your title is not officially rated, you must select Suggested Rating - Title not officially rated.

  • Cast and crew information
A minimum of one crew member must be added, but we recommend that you also enter at least key actors for improved search discoverability on Prime Video. If you're publishing a movie or TV show, then you must provide a director.

The DC Universe Animated Original Movies (DCUAOM; also known as DC Universe Original Movies or DC Universe Movies or DC Animated Movies) are a series of American direct-to-video superhero animated films based on DC Comics characters and stories. From 2007 to 2022, films were produced primarily by Warner Bros. Animation, but subsequently fell under DC Studios Animation. Many films are usually stand-alone projects that are either adaptations of popular works or original stories. From 2013 to 2020, the DC Animated Movie Universe was a subset of this series featuring several films that took place in a shared universe, influenced predominantly by "The New 52". Following the DCAMU's conclusion, the Tomorrowverse was launched the same year, beginning with Superman: Man of Tomorrow.

From 2007 to 2015, most of the films were voice directed by Andrea Romano, the last one being Justice League: Gods and Monsters, while the films since 2016 starting with Batman: Bad Blood were voice directed by Wes Gleason.

The films are generally released direct-to-video, but Batman: The Killing Joke, Batman and Harley Quinn, The Death of Superman and Reign of the Supermen were also given limited releases in theaters.[2]

Plans for sequels to the 2009 films Wonder Woman and Green Lantern: First Flight were shelved, as well as a planned film based on the 2003 miniseries Batgirl: Year One. Slower sales of the Wonder Woman film were cited,[45][46] although sales figures indicate that it was at least the #8 best-selling of the 25 DC Universe films released as of August 2015[update] (4 of the films that ranked higher than it include Blu-ray sales which have not been released for Wonder Woman).

In 2023, the creative team for Justice League: Warworld planned to develop a film adaptation of the Kingdom Come comic book mini-series, but the idea was discarded by James Gunn and Peter Safran after they were named CEOs of DC Studios.[51]

Netflix acquired the rights to the book series back in 2018, making a multi-year deal for movies and a TV series. This came after Disney had adapted three of the book series into films starring James McAvoy, Liam Neeson, Tilda Swinton, and Will Poulter from 2005 until 2010.

The veil of mystery covering Netflix's new Series Of Unfortunate Events has just parted somewhat, with the news that Barry Sonnenfeld will be directing. He's signed up alongside Mark Hudis (True Blood), who'll be executive producer and showrunner.

Sonnenfeld is a former Coen brothers alumnus who went on to direct the Men In Black trilogy and, perhaps more relevantly here, both Addams Family films. His macabre sensibility makes him the perfect choice for the series, and he already has a history with Snicket, having originally been tapped to direct the 2004 film with Jim Carrey. He developed a screenplay for that version with Snicket's real-life alter-ego Daniel Handler, but left the project over budgetary arguments with Paramount (Brad Silberling took it over). Looks like he's relishing the opportunity for a second crack of the whip.

Jordan Peele is best known for his comedic work alongside Keegan-Michael Key on their Comedy Central show "Key & Peele" and in their movie "Keanu," but his directorial debut "Get Out" (opening February 24) will show the world that he's also really good at scaring us.

"I have four other social thrillers that I want to unveil in the next decade," Peele told Business Insider. "The best and scariest monsters in the world are human beings and what we are capable of especially when we get together. I've been working on these premises about these different social demons, these innately human monsters that are woven into the fabric of how we think and how we interact, and each one of my movies is going to be about a different one of these social demons."

The Chronicles of Narnia films that graced big screens well over a decade ago resonated well not only with fans of the original book series, but high fantasy fans of all demographics. With a well-picked cast, incredible soundtracks, writing that paid respectful homage to its source content, and special effects that have held up surprisingly well, the three films that were made all were deemed successes in their own right. However, development on further installments from C.S. Lewis' series hit a rut, and eventually time ran out on Walden Media's rights to the franchise. As years passed it seemed like another Narnia film would never be made, but now, per a report from Collider, it looks like Barbie director Greta Gerwig may be stepping in to pick up the torch, with plans to make not one but two films for the series with Netflix.

The first Chronicles of Narnia film, based on the 1950 novel of C.S. Lewis's classic series The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, was helmed by Andrew Adamson with Walt Disney Pictures. It starred young British actors William Moseley (The Royals), Anna Popplewell (The Nun 2), Georgie Henley (The Sisterhood of Night), and Skandar Keynes as the four Pevensie siblings, and also included the likes of Tilda Swinton (Asteroid City) as the White Witch, James McAvoy (My Son) as Mr. Tumnus the faun, and Liam Neeson (Retribution) lending his voice to the great lion Aslan. The first film crushed all expectations at the box office in 2005, earning nearly $750 million and making it the most successful movie Walden Media ever made. It confidently paved the way for another installment based on the Prince Caspian novel of the series, which was also directed by Adamson and premiered in 2008. However, with a much bigger budget it didn't do quite as well, grossing just over $400 million. Adamson cited discrepancies with the writing, that the tone of the film deviated too far from the fantasy wonder of the first movie that drew entire families to the theater.

Following the Voyage of the Dawn Treader, there were talks of adapting both The Magician's Nephew and possibly The Silver Chair novels to the big screen. However, when Walden Media's rights to C.S. Lewis' novel series expired in late 2011, the future of Narnia on film looked bleak. Little to no updates on any prospects followed, leading many to believe that the franchise had faded into memory, especially with the former child actors having all grown up. However, Netflix has now stepped in to bring Narnia back to its former glory, having acquired the rights in 2018, with Greta Gerwig now officially on board to direct two of their planned films after tapping her as a possible contender. Netflix hasn't specified what those films are yet, or their overall plan for what will be their version of Narnia's story.

Whether they'll take on the monumental task of completing rebooting the entire seven-book series from the ground up with all new cast, or if they'll focus on the four books that have yet to get an adaptation at all, the possibilities are now truly open-ended. Given the typical scale of high fantasy tales from book to screen, and the budget that comes with it, it will undoubtedly be awhile still before the projects are set in motion. Nonetheless, it's a very hopeful future for the world of Narnia, and a chance for audiences everywhere to experience it all once again.

Academy Award winner Taika Waititi, who recently won Best Adapted Screenplay for Jojo Rabbit and directed the widely-acclaimed first season finale episode of The Mandalorian on Disney+, will direct and co-write a new Star Wars feature film for theatrical release.
