I think we need to have plan and make distribution to each members as 1st step, don't we?

Lennon,

Thanks for helping out here!

I'm curious what you mean by distribution?  The group function itself is the distribution, but maybe I'm not understand the context here.

Rio :)

Also I don't know that there is an "owner", but Wesley (wesley.chun : wesc+api at google.com : @wescpy developer relations :: google cloud) is the main contact for Academia at Google and therefore gUniversity I believe.  Hope this helps! Rio :)

John,

Thanks so much!  I had posted my intro a couple of months ago, so check it out if you feel so moved.

Yes this group has not been very active and I have wondered how to increase the reach of our shared interest to help give our students as much "real world" as we can in an academic environment.

I think the best thing to do is to post our experience and/or challenges in bringing the Google Development tools into our course(s) and develop this group as a resource to  would extent the benefits to others.

Part of the challenge is getting the "right" type of folks contributing to our collective knowledge. Sometime faculty that teach in this area are not the best community builders, which is why I tried to help out.

The amount of technology that Google offers up is somewhat mind blowing and I would love to use the technology to grow the group, like having a Google + Hangout to allow us to get to know each other.  Communicating in only text form is a good start, but actually having a F2F discussions will help us built community so much quicker!

So...I would LOVE to have to discuss a date and time and make this happen!

Rio :)

Hi Rio

Nice to know you. To be frankly, so far I think the group is not so active, so I just want to check if there are someone who are responsible for the administration work in the group, and I think we need to have a plan to build the group.

Let me make brief introduction
Sr. SW Architect at Sony Mobile
Co-Founder at PullyHugo investment consultant inc

I'm enthusiastic in training Android to others include students also, and I have very close collaboration with local universities in Beijing to hold/organize some real practice projects about Android, so I just wonder that if we can have some collaboration with this fantastic platform 'universities consortium'.

Even we can NOT make business together, but I am still willing to make my contribution to build up this group by my interest. :)

Hi John and Rio,
I'll participte in the Hangout.

By the way : I attended Google I/O and met with Shannon but no one else from this list.
I sent many emails to Wesley to meet with him and I went to Android building at Mountain Veiw but he didn't reply, so I assumed he wasn't interested or busy. Anyway maybe next time.

Thanks,
Max

hi everyone,

yes, i'm the lead for gUniversity (full name: Google Developers University Consortium) now, not to mention the Google Developers Academy. whereas gUniversity content comes from all you folks (outside of Google), the GDA focuses on content from the product teams directly.

GDA is meant to complement the material here in the gUniversity, and since GDA content is open-sourced, you're welcome to use/customize that material for your courses or research too! in the GDA, we're trying to make all of the learning consistent, so the format goes something like this:
  • content is made up of short, easy-to-digest 15-20 minute "lessons."
  • 3-4 lessons make up a "class."
  • multiple classes constitute a "course."
the GDA is a set of courses providing giving users an online place of learning that complements the traditional developer documentation while gUniversity is a community (you all!) collaborating, communicating, and sharing your open course or research materials with faculty worldwide!

if you have any new course curricula or research material that uses Google technologies, developer tools, or APIs in anyway, please participate by clicking on the "contribute" button on the gUniversity home page!

finally, gUniversity is no longer in private beta, so feel free to share this site with other faculty in your network or circles!

best regards,
--wesley chun
