Google Internships, How to get in being in a Non - Google Branch Area and Training for Successful Career in Google

Hi Fellow Developers,

   I was wondering what its like to take an internship at Google? I have a Associates of Science in Information Technology from Central Ohio Technical College. I'm currently an OSU (The Ohio State University) student in the CSE (Computer Science and Engineering) and CE (Computer Engineering) majors in the College of Engineering. I'm pursing a Bachelors degree and if needed after a PhD in both fields. I have taken one internship at the Boeing Company building testing software for nuclear weapons.  Boeing kept me 6 1/2 months before ending my internship with them. I have a strong passion for coding and a lifelong learner. I've been coding for over 4 years now in languages C++,PHP, Javascript, Java, and C# and currently learning C, and Python. I've also familiar many frameworks and language libraries example JQuery.  I was thinking of trying to apply for an internship in 2014 Summer for Google, but being in Ohio means I'd have to go out of state and the cost of living is pretty high in most areas where Google branches are located. I was wondering what Google does with students who want to intern that aren't in the same state? Do they need to have income to take the internship? I do enjoy Google products and I'm going to focus on building Operating Systems, Web Applications, Game Programming, and Software Engineering in general. With my CE degree, my emphasis will be on processor design, circuits, and motherboard design. I enjoy both sides of computers and hope to be of use to Google for the future. I'm not sure if graduate school would be needed but if its must I'll go for it and I may try to get a business management degree so I can potentially become a manager. At Boeing I was great working with others and on my own. I love team work and building applications by myself! Managers in Boeing stated that I had a thirst for knowledge and a drive that never seemed to fade away. So if you (any Google Developers out there) could answer these questions I would greatly appreciate it!

              1. Is a 6 1/2 month internship from Boeing good enough to get into a Google internship for 2014 summer?

              2. Would a mentor be able to help push me along the way to become a better programmer for building games, OS, advanced Web Applications, Compilers, or any advanced types of software.

              3. Can an out of state student intern at Google and does it cost?

              4. Does Google employees expect any knowledge for applicants interested in working for Google as interns?
