okay so im trying to install origin and the sims4 for my mom on this Dell inspiron 15 that shes had for years. i completely factory reset it and now that ive tried to install it gives me this message "MSVCP140.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling to fix the problem."
ive tried reinstalling, then going in as an admin and enabling it and nothing.
ive tried uninstalling the entire graphics pack and redoing it and nothing.
ive even tried scaning as an admin.
im like a 2/10 when it comes to knowing what im doing with computers, so this is all from research on different forums and i still cant get anything to work. this is day 5 and i leave for college next week and i was hoping to have this done by then. can someone please help me.

Hoping someone can help! I'm experiencing a similar issue when I try to run Adobe Captivate 2019 on my new laptop. It worked on my older laptop, but for some reason there's a problem on the new one (see screenshot of error message I get). I have installed the redist x64 and x84, reinstalled Captivate and restarted and still having issues. Any ideas?

this is also something i have tried, and its just not registering.
after going into my control panel i saw that i have 10 different C++ runtime programs installed but again i have very little experience with computers so i didnt know if uninstaling them all and starting fresh would screw it up or not.
ive tried about everything on this page
-to-fix-msvcp140-dll-is-missing-error-on-windows/

Thank you for making that clear, i installed the 64x one and still had the issue i will try again.
I have downloaded the 86x, its working now. thanks the most for making it clear.
Bruh now its saying i have something else not installed

I had the same problem trying to install an EA game (Unravel) on Steam. I installed both versions x86 and x64 and after that the Origin app installed flawlessly and I could continue with installing the game.
Thank you for this solution.

This. I have had the same problem as Breelee and it always was
missing that DLL but msvcruntime msvcruntime140.dll).
I did not know that you needed to have both 32 bits and 64 bits
installed. And now I think of it it has sense; most applications are
structured for 32 bits.

There is no useful fix posted for this continuing problem with Adobe applications for Windows 10 machines. I have followed all the instructions available for the missing DLL library files but nothing so far has worked. Fixes from 2016 are useless. Reinstalling CC (March 2020) does nothing but repeat the errors: "Missing MSVCP140.ll and VCRUNTIME140.dll.

I am having a very similar issue; installing the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop app gives error messages regarding "msvcp140.dll" no found and "vcruntime140.dll" not found. I have tried installing the Visual C++ redistributable installer and it does not help. I still get the same "not found" messages when trying to install the CC desktop app.

D-Maag, and other future viewers of this discussion, the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables are created and provided by Microsoft. If you need additional assistance please contact Microsoft. For more information please see -us/cpp/windows/redistributing-visual-cpp-files?view=msvc-160.

@blackswanndraws I used to have this problem I reinstalled pencil2d and it started working again but this can sometimes be caused by
1 making a short cut on the desk top (when I used my old pc I made a short cut to pencil 2d and it did not work)
2 downloading the wrong pencil2d are you sure you picked right between the 64 bit and the 32 bit

I have formated my PC and from windows 8 improved in windows 10, but now every time it pops and error missing msvcp140.dll file, what should I do how to find from which program is this fille missing, do I need to reinstall again the Win 10 or what else can I do.

Run the vcredist file in your Pencil2D directory. That will install the software you are missing from Microsoft. After that you should be able to start Pencil2D normally (you may or may not need to restart your computer for the changes to take effect).

But if you want you can also download it from the official microsoft website. Please read the pinned responses for this issue: VCRUTIME140_1.ddl was not found // VCRUNTIME140.dll / MSVCP140.dll Missing? Help

@mynameissplayer Please look at the solutions here: -0x80240017-unspecified-error/. Based on your screenshot it looks like you may be using Windows 7 in which method 2 would be applicable to you, but it really could be an issue with any of the things listed on that page.

I have recently downloaded and installed AutoCAD, upon trying to open the software I was greeted with four error messages. they said that MSVCP140.dll is missing (this displayed twice in two separate windows) and the other was mfc140u.dll is missing (this also displayed twice in two separate windows). would anybody be able to tell me what I have to do to solve my issue, I have looked on the internet and I cant find how to solve it. Any help would be much appreciated,

Thank you for helping me, but after trying the solution which you have said I am now encountering another error message. this one is a (0xc000007b). error message, it tells me this and then say click ok to close program. I have again looked on the internet for the solution and tried different ideas, no luck. Any ideas?

I know as a newbie that I'm too late here to reply as it is solved. But I would like to share some information with you regarding the missing files. Both files are files from a group of .dll files that one can come across. The cause behind the error might be either the removal of a file or the file is corrupted in nature. To fix mfc140u.dll file there are various approaches as it varies from one version to another. If you did like to fix it just need to install updated Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Service Pack, but you need to make sure the version for which you need. Sometimes reinstalling the file might help you. Anyone here might have a problem in future then try fixing mfc140u.dll as directed in the post.

I've recently gotten a new computer, and I've downloaded OriginThinSetup. The only issue is, once I try to run it, I get the errors of missing the files VCRUNTIME140.dll and MSVCP140.dll. I don't know how to safely recover these files, and I've already tried to use the command prompt and sfc /scannow, but I get the error "I must be an administrator running a console session" even though I'm an administrator? Any help would very much appreciated!!

@ugliijaw When you run sfc, you need to specifically select the Administrator version of Command Prompt or PowerShell. If you hit Windows key-X, you'll see either "Command Prompt (Administrator)" or "PowerShell (Administrator)," and if you use the search box, you should see the option to run as administrator in the search results.

However, you might not need to go that route. The two .dll files you list are part of the 2015 VC++ runtimes. It's best to uninstall your current copies, if you have any, and then download new ones from Microsoft. Hit Windows key-i, select Apps, scroll down to Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable, click on both the x86 and x64 entries (if you have them), and select Uninstall. You can download new copies here. Be sure to install both the x86 and x64 versions.

I had this same issue with the missing files and downloaded both off the site you provided and I still can not get it working. it says im stilling missing those files even though it shows I have them. Please if you have any other tips or useful info please reply to me asap. I recently got a new laptop and really wanted to play my sims 2 game but cant even download origin to play it bc of this issue. I have either a windows 8 or 10 and it is 64 bit so I made sure to download both files on the site you provided. Please get back to me as soon as you can. Thank you.

@addiansmommy Did you uninstall your existing versions first? If not, please uninstall them and then reinstall the new versions. Did you restart after installing the new ones? If not, please do so now.

Otherwise, disable any antivirus/firewall you have installed, at least long enough to reinstall the runtimes and then Origin. If that doesn't help, try installing Origin in a new admin user account on your computer.

@MrsChelCD It's strange that this problem would happen in Windows 10. I'm not really sure what to do in this case. This might be a Windows issue, rather than one with Origin, although I'm not sure how to tell, either.

I am also getting this same error. I tried going to the beta and it installs, but it does not open.

I am also not able to uninstall past versions of ChiTuBox (I may have deleted them from the program files without going though the uninstall process). Now I can't do a proper uninstall because the uninstall file is missing. Could this be the issue? I don't remember at this point if I deleted these old version before or after I got the missing MSVCP140.dll error

I also want to note that I tried going back to the stable build and I get the same missing MSVCP140.dll error. Is the pathing need to be reset? It seems to be trying to find the dll files in the wrong location, does anyone know how to fix this?

I was able to correctly uninstall the old versions of the sotware by reinstalling them and then finding the uninstall file in the program files folder. Now they no longer show up in my uninstall window. I then reinstalled the first the stable and then the beta program and again the missing MSVCP140.dll error persists.

So I tried a adding a new copy of MSVCP140 to my windows file and that causes another error. I tried solving this other error without success, but in doing so someone mentioned reinstalling visual studio C++

Easier fix, go to programs and then find Microsoft Visual C++ 2017 Redistributable there, click on it, hit modify and then repair. There might be multiple based on the system being used, but find the one that matches the system version of Chitubox you downloaded and it should fix it.
