Friends and Family:

Thanksgiving Worship Service.  This coming Thursday, at 10:00 a.m., is going to be our annual Thanksgiving service.  Dr. Joel Dizon won't be with us but Dr. Beth Somera is going to be there to play the piano. Some started giving their Thanksgiving offering last Sunday. You might want to bring those envelopes when  you come Thursday.  It is going to be potluck so bring food you want to share.  Service is usually brief (with no Children's moment, almost no announcement) and so total of two hours with potluck fellowship included, we should be done and ready to attend another party at noon time. Share to others this information as some may not yet have access to computer at this time.

Thanksgiving Day is perhaps one unique contribution of American Christianity to the rest of the world. It is a harvest festival, giving thanks for all God's blessings, often characterized by prayer and feasts.  It was first celebrated in North America in 1619 in Charles City, Virginia (page 414,Book of Worship). Let us continue to be a thankful people as we offer thanksgiving to God, enjoy feast and fellowship, done in the context of worship this coming Thursday.

Parking Lot Painted. It was a pleasant surprise to come to church with our parking lot with new yellow and blue paints.  Ferrell told me Joseph and wife, Rina, and our young people came to do the painting.  Thanks to everybody who always has a good idea to show how to help in some small and wonderful ways.

Hanging of the Greens. This Saturday, the 28th, you are invited to come to help decorate our church for the Advent/Christmas season.  We will be hanging some greens, put up Christmas trees and adorn it with lights and decorations.  There is no set pattern or ways to decorate our sanctuary.  Come with ideas, bring some decorations, donate Christmas trees, and be prepared to stay for a couple of hours.  A couple of short hymns and a brief devotion will accompany us in this special preparation for the Advent season.  Let us gather around at 3:00 p.m. and finish by 5:00 p.m. Some refreshments to enjoy when work is done might be a good idea.  Hey, it is Christmas time, come and enjoy!

Advent Study. We will be using Rick Warren's The Purpose of Christmas for Sunday School at 8:15 a.m. beginning this Sunday, the 29th. It will be the same material we are using at the Friday Study Fellowship (7:00 p.m.). There is a short DVD presentation and reflection/sharing time.  This is Rick Warren, many said it is good stuff!

Our Condolence.  Two weeks ago we heard about the death of Mr. Valentin.  Last week,
Ruth Camat's mother passed away.  Ruth left for Pangasinan (province before reaching Baguio City) and was able to talk to her mom before she passed away.  Jun and Candy and son, Jayden, will be leaving Wednesday. Home phone number: 632-8075. Love gift or "abuloy" will surely be appreciated by the family.

In Christ,

Pastor Fred
