Dear Family and Friends:
Let me start by saying that I received a prayer request from Maria Hernandez.
She and her daughter, Natasha, are now back being regular in our church life. Maria
is asking that we pray for her eye problem. The laser surgery done on her
was not doing good.
So long to Nellie Dizon and Lydia Villena; both of them are leaving next week.
Our school teachers headed for the mainland for the summer break. This Sunday
is our choir's last Sunday before they start practicing again in August.
Jim & Esther Rollen, Paul & Efigenia Tuzon are active in other churches. We are so glad more individuals and families are coming to our church regularly. Rose Lemmers went back to West Virginia (National Guard) and Blessie Anulao is now in Guam working at the Base after months of training in the mainland.
Wayne & Ruth organized a farewell party for Pastor Fred & Naomi at their residence at Malojloj. Some women at the church led a farewell lunch for Pastor Fred & Naomi at the Marriott.
Mrs. Naomi Agtarap has found an apartment. Pastor Fred & Naomi will be needing help to move furnitures this Saturday at 9:00 a.m. Pick-up truck plus energy and muscles will be needed. Some jokes and snacks as we do the move is appreciated.
The Memorial Tree for Dr. Jack North needs our TLC by making sure we water it during the summer that seems to be too dry this time of the year. Gina (secretary) and Pastor Fred have been doing the watering the last few days. Would someone drive by during the week and see that we do not over water it?
Cathrine (988-9530) needs a stroller and car seat. She called the office twice and parsonage already. We get a few calls asking assistance ranging from a free ticket to go to another island for some emergencies to buying a uniform for Ross (who a young woman who just got employed).
The Rev. Johann Osias will be with us the first two weeks of July and then go back to Manila to secure the permanent visa requirement for his entire family to be with us. Pastor Fred was asked by D.S. Kim to make sure that pastoral leadeship is provided for the month of July.
Pastor Johann has a ten-year multiple entry visa to the U.S. He has attending been conferences and training events in the U.S. for the last four years; and so he is cleared and TSA(ed) already. He was in Maui for two weeks last April. I am working, with the help of a lawyer, to convert his visa into I-129 suited for non-immigrant status for a Religious Worker. This might take two months. I will be here (Pastor Fred) to help in the smoother transition. For the molnth of July, pastoral presence and work will not be missed.
While Pastor Fred will be with Beth Somera and Judy Wise to attend the California-Pacific Annual Conference June 16-20, Kay North and Karen Carpenter will be filling in the pulpit.
Again, we thank Dorothy Winttele for organizing Graduates Sunday. We congratulate the Class of 2010 and we hope and pray for brighter years ahead for them. Parents and family of these wonderful, hard-working children who preferred to study than be idle, congratulations also.
For the summer there will be no choir practices, no Sunday school for adults, and no Friday Study Fellowship, right? Why not have church get-together at the beach, prayer meeting, organize a Vacation Bible School, another church general clean-up? Don't look at this as hard work, take this as taking a break from your school and work, and get some involvement, if you haven't had a chance, at church.
Blessings to us all!
Pastor Fred
