DHEC OCRM to Host Informational Town Halls on Beachfront Jurisdictional Lines (Baseline and Setback Lines) Review Process
CHARLESTON, S.C. - The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control Office of Ocean and Coastal Resource Management (DHEC OCRM) will be hosting informational town halls regarding the upcoming beachfront jurisdictional lines (baseline and setback lines) review process.
These will be drop-in style events, with informational posters and take-home fliers. DHEC OCRM staff will be present to answer questions.
The 2024-2027 beachfront jurisdictional lines review process kicked off this past January, with the release of the tentative schedule. The review cycle will be divided into three phases. Phase I beaches include Daufuskie Island, Hilton Head Island, Bay Point Island, St. Phillips Island, Little Capers Island, Pritchards Island, Fripp Island, Hunting Island, and Harbor Island. Anyone in these areas wanting information regarding the beachfront jurisdictional lines review process is encouraged to participate. Please be aware that there are no new lines available at this time. These meetings are only for information on the process.
The first town hall will be hosted in the Town of Hilton Head Island, on May 8th, from 4:30-6:30pm in Council Chambers at the Hilton Head Island Town Hall, 1 Town Center Court, Hilton Head Island, SC 29928. The second town hall will be hosted in Beaufort on Thursday, May 16th, from 4:30-6:30pm at St. Helena Library (6355 Jonathan Francis Senior Rd, St Helena Island, SC 29920).
