Fortunately, we have
the fund because we no doubt have more legal matters to tend to and we have a more environmental sustainability work that is becoming more and more critical to address. We are having successes that are being acknowledge in these fields:
1) We won a federal case to continue to uphold the St. Helena Cultural Protection Overlay District! Hallelujah! Our own article about this is forthcoming. In the meantime, you can view details here;

Part of the initial vision of the Gullah/Geechee Sea Island Coalition was to protect sacred sites. This month in collaboration with Beaufort County, SC, we have successfully launched the "Gullah/Geechee Sacred Sites Protection Program." We are doing field visits with Gullah/Geechee families on historic St. Helena Island in March and April. We also continue to work with the Gullah/Geechee Cultural Community Trust to document and protect these sacred areas in Florida and we were engaged in the documenting and community discussions in Charleston County, SC regarding burial sites. We will keep you posted as the project makes progress.
We could not have come this far without our members and supporters. So, you are appreciated.
The fact that folks are assisting with supporting our efforts shows that our work and living are not in vain. Tenk GAWD!
I look forward to celebrating the final day of Black History Month with all of you as I bless the grounds of the new "Bluffton Gullah Cultural Heritage Center" on Saturday at 11 am. I also look forward to working with you at events and on projects during "Gullah/Geechee Volunteer Month." It will be just as busy as this month has been and I expect more and more blessings to flow. Tenk GAWD! May continued blessings flow your way.
Peace,
Queen Quet
