NOW AVAILABLE: New Fact Sheet for Reducing Assaults on Transit Workers

FTA published the General Directive 24-1 Effective Mitigation Practices Fact Sheet based on agency responses to the 2024 General Directive 24-1: Required Actions Regarding Assaults on Transit Workers. The mitigation fact sheet discusses the four most commonly used strategies transit agencies reported in their responses, including:

  • De-Escalation Training
  • Operator Area Barriers
  • Policies and Procedures
  • Patrols Strategies

The fact sheet is designed to help improve the understanding of mitigation strategies implemented by transit agencies to reduce assaults on transit workers. Within the fact sheet, there are separate sections covering the challenges and effectiveness of each strategy.
