PaperModel Kiosk (aka Crechemania) have a very large collection of downloadable paper nativities on their entrancing, enthralling, amazing website. Some of them, like the miniature example above are free. (Miniature in this case = 3 x 1.5 x 3.5 inches)

When you ask for a free (I MUST NOT, (cannot) buy them all, although I want to) download, a link that is live for one hour is sent to your email address. By clicking on the link in the email, you are re-directed to the Crechemania website and can then download a pdf of your selected nativity.

By using this Crechemania Free Download Service I agree with the Crechemania.com download policy; that these downloads are copyrighted material; that they are for my personal use only. I may download as many items as I wish; as many times as I wish; print as many as I wish; assemble as many as I wish; give away as many as I wish. But I may not sell them; offer them for sale on Internet sites; post these as Downloads on my Web site; or mailing lists; and I agree to the receipt of Crchemania.com email notices and newsletters about crche downloads, news, and information; and I understand that I may receive periodic emails notifying me of Chrchemania news and updates.

My first tutorial series to teach the basics of Blender required to design your own paper models has now been completed. You can conveniently watch them all on youtube via this page.

While building the full build to take photos for the Long March 5 I came across a major mistake. The marking to align the docking ring (part 6) i in the wrong position. This and three minor mistakes on the Long March 5 have been corrected and it has been re-uploaded. I suggest those who have already downloaded to download again. This does not affect the Long March 5B.

The Lucky Dragon has been released!

Coming Saturday, February the 10th, the Chinese Year of the Dragon begins! Therefore I am very pleased to finally be able to publish this model of the Loong, or Chinese Dragon or Asian Dragon or Lucky Dragon, which has been originally created 12 years ago for the previous year of the Dragon. The Lucky Dragon can be built flying or standing. As usual it comes in a Chinese New Year version and white version. Other colour versions are planned.

Canon Creative park has several FREE paper model projects including some tall ships. They're not near as detailed as the Polish kits and rather toylike, but fun to build. Maybe a project to do with the kids/grandkids? Here's a link to Canon's Cutty Sark from the website:

"Any officer can get by on his sergeant. To be a sergeant you really have to know your stuff. I'd rather be an outstanding sergeant than just another officer." - SgtMaj Daniel J. Daly, USMC, 1921.

Here is a link to Paper Shipwright, who have free downloads. And another from them of HMVS Cerberus, which was my first card model. Turned out fairly well. It comes in a printed version, which costs GBP 8.50, or a free download which you can print out yourself.

That website (Paper Shipwright) has a model of CGS Canada, and it's at a reasonable scale. I am putting some serious thoughts into buying the paper kit and adapting it into a plank on bulkhead/mixed media model because I have always loved the lines of that vessel and she's so delightfully obscure.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.

Want to learn more about the James Webb Space Telescope? Build one of our paper models! You can build your own version of Webb, learning the function and purpose of each part of the satellite as you go. We now have a variety of models ranging from our original paper model to some amazing modifications that extend our original in design and/or materials.

If you've made a model of the James Webb Space Telescope, out of paper or anything else, please send us a photo of yourself with it and we'll post it! We'll need your written permission if you're in the picture, so if you'd like your photo to appear, please fill out this release form and email it to us with your picture (GSFC-N...@mail.nasa.gov)!

Since posting our paper model, we've had a variety of people modify our model and/or design their own models, paper and otherwise. We've added directions for model modifications, and we also have a gallery of models submitted to us.

This is our original paper model, designed by Nina Heimpel, at Swales Aerospace. Please also note that the design of the spacecraft has changed slightly since this was designed. There is a momentum flap on the back and the solar panel array has changed. The model is approximately 1/80th scale.

Tom Dani sent in photos of his gorgeous model. He says, "My model is similar to John Jogerst's version (and in fact it's based on his) but the assembly was modified and different materials were used during the build, such as copious amounts of aluminum foil and high-gloss, self-adhesive foils. It's also made with a curved, reflective mirror; angled heat shields and custom paint job." He also sent in an upgrade to John Jogerst's version, which will enable others to make the mirror concave. Download the mirror pattern.

Dave Dooling, the Education Director of the New Mexico Museum of Space History wrote us - he took some of the materials from our models page and developed a different type of model for kids to build. You can view his instructional video here: says it "helps kids understand how Webb deploys so they understand a bit more of why it is built the way it is. Feel free to reuse materials as you need."

Download this PDF file to make four Quasi-Zenith Satellite (QZS) paper models: QZS-1 launched in September 2010 by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), and QZS-2, QZS-3, and QZS-4 to be launched by the Cabinet Office (QZS-2 and 4 have the same form, so the file includes three types in total). The Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS) will be operated as a four-satellite constellation starting in FY2018.

First, download the QZS paper model PDF file to your computer and print it out (single sided) on two sheets of A4-sized paper. Use thicker or shiny paper, such as model paper, to make more attractive and stable models.

I have been designing paper spacecraft models for many years, mostly for use at my job at (what was) Orbital ATK, now part of Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems. The models (all in 1/48th scale) included NFIRE, Swift, Landsat 8, Iridium NEXT, ICESat-2, etc. Some have been made available on NASA project sites as part of their K-12 outreach. I plan to (eventually) post those on this website.

What drove me to add paper models to the SIM website, was that in December 2018, I saw a Facebook discussion that pointed out there is no paper model of the InSight Mars lander. I thought I could remedy that situation, and I have. See below. So I will be posting those as free downloads, but donations to show your appreciation are always welcome.

While InSight is the first of these new, non-Orbital ATK heritage spacecraft models, I hope to add more over time. The newest one is the NRO's KH-9 Hexagon spy satellite which was added in April 2020.

The Battlestar Galactica Fleet Pack was originally developed by Coxxon as an add-on to a game (Star Trek Bridge Commander I believe). Working with members Nothing and Skupilkinson in the CardModels forum at zealot.com I took the original meshes and cleaned them up and adjusted things so they could be converted into paper model kits. Nothing and Skupilkinson then unfolded the cleaned up meshes, tidied up instructions and uploaded the kits. A few kits I did completely on my own. Over time revisions have been made to some of the kits, and all kits presented here are the latest versions.

The Geminon Transport is a small to medium sized cargo ship. Marcell von Dem Berge of the card models forum I frequent has upgraded this kit, correcting some textures and parts, added details, and completely revised the instructions. A detailed thread can be found here.

Developed by Revell-Fan, a fellow member of the Card Models forum at zealot.com and hosted here with his permission, this wonderful model of Colonial One is available as a zip file, or a PDF file. Click the appropriate link below to download this beautiful model.

Thank you for letting me know what is happening with it. I was wondering if it is alright if I use some of these models to decorate my library for their Summer Reading Program for the kids. Each year they have a themed reading program for kids and this year the theme is Sci Fi. I was hoping it was alright with you if I can use the models to decorate the ceiling with Galactica ships.

That part replaces part fb1 in the bridge section. See page 19 of the bridge parts, and page 7 of the assembly instructions. The original piece does not have the lines telling you where the other formers should be attached.
