Peeps,

That is an easy one. There are NO other animals here that eat eggs
and are nocturnal. I have / can trap a skunk...every other night if I
want. They are everywhere here. We live on the edge of the
desert...just think of Reno or Carson City or Yuba City. Those places
are crawling with skunks.....same here. I could say a coyote did it
outside of the fence line but the incidence of coyotes here is small.
We see 250 skunks for every single coyote. Last night my son and I saw
a coyote for the first time since last September. I can see skunks
every night if I want to go out looking for them.

I also see the evidence in a hole dug under the fence line and a
smallish mammal crawled beneath....perfect size for a skunk.
Again...the most obvious clue is...there are no other mammals to point
the finger at.

Ah, ok... I was just curious if they left any physical evidence, or tell-tale signs of their presence. Whenever I lose eggs to a predator, they usually is no sign at all of what took them, not even bits of shell.
