Tomorrow I am getting a BLM donkey (burro), he's been owned by a lady
that uses him to protect her goats. I am hoping he will not have any
issues with my Guineas, as I am hoping to relocate my Guinea's main
area up into the safety of my goat pasture fencing. Does anyone have
any experience with donkeys and Guineas interacting?

Peeps,

They'll be no different than mixing with the horse or llamas. Our
neighbors about a mile away had guineas in a pasture with 2 llamas.

I used to have a llama as well, but he was old and his organs started
failing after a couple of years of having him, so I had him put down.
He didn't know he was a llama tho, he thought he was a horse. He paid
no mind to the Guineas, or the goats and their safety for that matter
lol. I am just concerned that the donkey might think of the Guineas as
predators and stomp them or something. I am not sure if the lady I am
getting him from has any poultry of any kind, I will be sure and ask
her tho when she delivers him. If he doesn't like Guineas, he can't
stay, lol.

Peeps,

I don't have enough grass to feed a large animal...we could if we
irrigated but so far not.

Peeps,

I have an idea....to be sure. My best friend from HS...lives 3hrs
away. He's bellyached more than once about his "hay burners". I
wouldn't consider a horse...don't care much for horse meat. My wife's
family loves it but then in Japan...they seem to eat most
everything....LOL

Peeps,

I've eaten it a few times. I travel to Japan...every few years for a
couple weeks stay. My in-laws serve it when we have a special meal.
Its usually as a side dish; served like sashimi and rice...with
wasabi, soy sauce and plenty of saki to wash it down. I'm not into
horse rump roast or steaks.

Geez the cost of horse meat is much too high. I know in the islands
like Samoa and Tonga...they LOVE horse meat. I lived on the North
Shore of Oahu...most Polynesians think nothing of eating horse meat.
Truly; eating horse meat is not a big deal to many people.

My 1st son (from my 1st "relationship") is 1/4 Polynesian. That 1st
relationship lasted ...like 3 months. I got custody of my eldest son
when he was 6 weeks old, weighed just 10 lbs by then....he was a
premie....long, long story.

Just to put things in perspective for ya... eating horse meat to me
would be like eating your firstborn son to you.
I have owned, raised, trained and rescued horses all my life. I
connect with these animals on a pretty deep level. Never in a million
years would I eat one. Doesn't matter if other countries do it or not,
I'll pass.

Peeps,

My perspective is blurred a bit by having been married to someone who thinks nothing of it (eating horse meat).  I'm very ambivalent toward the choice.  The amount of horse meat I've eaten the few times its been served would not exceed 6 ounces.  That is fairly modest amount.   I'm not advocating it...just thought it was an interesting to consider.  I have 8 siblings..they all have similar disinterest or total disdain as yourself....in fact 90% of Americans feel precisely as you do.
