Larry,

My biggest failing when raising the keets that hatched last year was
not feeding them the 29% protein Wild Game starter. I've got that now
plus the fish meal that is 40% ? They should befine this year as far
as protein is concerned. I wrongly believed my keets would get
adequate protein from being on the ground....from the start.

One thing is very probable. My game fowl hens tend to all want to go
broody in groups. I have several empty nests and 2 in spots inside
the Farm Implement Building....one nest is on a shelf and another on
is the tarp covering my boat. That leaves 6 nest boxes available and
then there are the 5 nest covering boxes in the gardens for the
guineas. My 16 loose Game Fowl hens utilize them every bit as much as
my 6 guineas hens.

The temps here at night seem to have been rather cold....maybe not
quite freezing but definitely below 40f degrees. I've been covering
the guinea eggs in an elevated nest box under oak leaves. I've got 5
guinea eggs collected now and as soon as I get 10+ guinea
eggs...they'll be set under my new broody hen presently setting in her
nest on the boat tarp. I'm gonna catch her this evening and lock her
in a decent nest box with her eggs. I do not like the boat as an egg
brooding site.

What's this about fish meal ?? I've used medicated game bird or
turkey starter for keets I've raised, but haven't added fish meal.
